Professor Li Xinsheng of Shandong Academy of Social Sciences introduced the overall structure and academic innovation of the book.
"Consumer Economics" is a monograph that uses multiple disciplines to study consumption issues systematically and comprehensively. This monograph not only studies consumption from the perspectives of economics, management, and marketing, but also studies consumption from the perspectives of philosophy, sociology, culture, and history. In particular, the author uses systematic scientific theories and methods to study consumption as a complex and dynamic system, and uses quantitative analysis methods in many aspects to describe the status, influence and decisive significance of consumption in the entire economic field and even in many aspects of social life. This book studies consumption from the trinity of history, reality, and future, and proposes the issues of consumption determining production, consumption social productivity, and consumption chain. It also conducts innovative research on consumption methods, consumption content, scientific consumption concepts, and consumption philosophy. The participating experts discussed the "Consumer Economy under the New Normal" and put forward new perspectives, new ways of thinking and constructive opinions on the contribution of consumption to economic growth. They also had a heated discussion on the research and innovation of spiritual and cultural consumption, information consumption, online consumption, consumption structure, consumption patterns, consumer rights and consumer education in "Consumer Economics".
The basic theories described in "Consumer Economics" provide theoretical basis and methodology for my country's consumer economy under the new normal, especially for the "supply-side" reform and sustained and rapid economic development, and are of great practical significance. Human consumption affects the domestic and foreign consumer markets, and the "consumption side" affects the regulation, reform and development of the "supply side". The "consumption side" is the driving force and traction force of the "supply side" reform at all times. If "supply-side" reform departs from effective demand, potential demand and desired demand, it will become a purposeless reform. At present, China's supply and demand relationship is facing a structural imbalance that cannot be ignored. The "mismatch between supply and demand" has become the biggest obstacle to China's sustained economic growth. Therefore, emphasizing supply-side reform means starting from the production and supply ends, adjusting the supply structure, and finding a path to truly activate domestic demand and create a new driving force for economic development. The book believes that supply-side structural reform is to start from improving the quality of supply, regulate the outstanding imbalance between the "supply side" and the "demand side", use reform methods to promote structural adjustment, correct distortions in factor allocation, expand effective supply, improve the adaptability and flexibility of the supply structure to changes in demand, improve total factor productivity, better meet the needs of the people, and promote the sustainable and healthy development of the consumer economy and society.
