Sixty years have passed, and the former sharpshooter has become an octogenarian. One of the practice team members said: "He insisted on taking out cups to pour wine for us, and the hand holding the wine glass was trembling; the left leg injured in the battle still has a slight limp when walking."
At the end of the visit, at the suggestion of volunteers, the team members of the Xi'an Internet Affairs sang a song "Singing the Motherland" for the old man: "The five-star red flag is fluttering in the wind, how loud the victory song is, singing our dear motherland, and moving towards prosperity from now on..."
Zhang Qingtai was very excited, stood up and acted as conductor, saying: "You kids are all my treasures and the treasures of the motherland!" The old man's biggest wish is that someone would often come and talk to him and listen to him tell the revolutionary stories that have made him proud all his life. Mr. Huang said: "If the Japanese come again, I hope to be on the front line!" The practice team members were deeply moved by the old man's patriotism.
However, on September 16 this year, less than two months before the practice team visited Mr. Huang, when everyone was discussing how to raise money to buy an electric wheelchair for Mr. Huang, who was so weak that he could not even shake the handle of the wheelchair, the team members received news that Mr. Huang died of illness at home at the age of 98. Before he could do anything, he was already separated from Huang Laotian forever. This incident undoubtedly sounded the alarm for all of us. This story gives us a glimpse of the experience of our ancestors 70 years ago."
