Exclusive interview with Zhao Zhongxiu, Vice President of the w88 casino: Going global faces strategic adjustments

("First Financial Daily"2012Year11month14Japanese reporter: Guo Liqin)

[Editor's Note] It has been more than ten years since China first proposed "going out". In recent years, against the backdrop of a weakening global economy, China's "going out" companies have become a unique group in the world due to their strong development momentum. To this end, a reporter from China Business News recently conducted an exclusive interview with Zhao Zhongxiu, Vice President of the w88 casino.

First Financial Daily: The concept of “going global” has been proposed for more than ten years. What do you think of the implementation of this concept in the past?

Zhao Zhongxiu: When China first proposed the concept of "going global", it mainly considered it from the perspective of adjusting its w88 structure and cooperating with overseas economies. For example, companies “going out” to build factories in export market countries can effectively avoid w88 frictions.

With the increase in the number of “going global” companies,2005~2006year, especially200610313_10367

At present, the “going out” strategy mainly includes two tasks. The first is to improve the capacity building of enterprises as micro entities; the second is to support and promote the system, or improve the government's public services. What is also distinctive about China’s “going out” strategy is that it is not just economic behavior, but also the implementation of the all-round “going out” strategy in conjunction with diplomacy and other multi-faceted resources. Overall, China’s “going out” strategy is still in its infancy.

How to consider the stage of "going global"? The evaluation is mainly based on business, economic, political, and technological factors. At present, China's concept of "going global" is more thought from an economic and commercial perspective. The socio-technical factors, that is, how many jobs it will bring to the local area, and whether it can bring out advanced technology, are still not done well.

The current "going out" is still an extension of the current open pattern. It does not understand internationalization from the perspective of the global economy, and it can be regarded as being in the primary stage of "internationalization".

Daily: From2008New Year's Eve201211916_11968

Zhao Zhongxiu: First of all, we must identify the three stages of "internationalization".

China’s current successful cases of “going global” are almost all resource-based, that is, going to overseas markets to obtain oil and raw materials, and then importing them back to the home country. China's other "going global" enterprises are also mainly focused on production, that is, building factories in the export market with export as the main purpose, or driving the export of domestic parts and labor at the same time. This can be regarded as the initial stage of "internationalization".

At the intermediate stage of internationalization, enterprises will have a global layout, combine global resources, and satisfy the local market as the main purpose. Of course, they will also focus on layout. Now the world500Strong multinational companies are almost all in the intermediate stage.

In global multinational companies20%, has reached an advanced stage. During this period, companies will gradually downplay the image of their home country and truly achieve global network operations. Evolving from commodity export to capital export. At present, Huawei in China is already in a state between the intermediate stage and the advanced stage.

Based on this understanding, in the future, China's "going global" enterprises will need to consider issues from the "added value" of the value chain rather than the "total export value", so future adjustments will mainly involve two aspects.

Taken together, in the next five years, our high-end manufacturing industry and low-end manufacturing industry may gradually lose, and80%’s mid-range manufacturing industry will remain in the country,20%'s mid-range manufacturing industry is flowing overseas.

In this case, first of all, foreign-invested enterprises may transfer processing w88 factories originally located in China to other countries with lower costs due to cost considerations. Secondly, domestic manufacturers actively adapt to the environment and take advantage of the trend to transfer some domestic production capacity abroad or to the central and western regions to manage the global supply chain.

Daily: In such an internal and external environment, does China’s “going out” strategy also need to be adjusted accordingly?

Zhao Zhongxiu: For China to truly “go global”, the most important thing is to start at home.

First of all, we must shift from overemphasis on the supply side in the past to expanding the demand side. In the past thinking, product-centered industrial production and manufacturing received more attention, while the service industry has long been suppressed and undervalued. We must vigorously develop the service industry in the future.

Secondly, in the current domestic market, internal competition in many industries is insufficient, and the “going global” behavior of many companies is not a natural result of sufficient internal competition. It is the result of certain monopolies suppressing competition.

The most important point, and the fundamental solution, is to create an innovative environment.

From the government's perspective, the current foreign investment approval system needs further reform and the procedures must be simplified.

Daily: From your observation, what do the Chinese companies that are currently more successful in “going global” have in common?

Zhao Zhongxiu: Most of these companies have clear strategies and understand why they “go global”.

Secondly, most of the team has an international perspective. For example, it has language advantages, has a more thorough research on the target country's market, and has better corresponding human resources. In addition, the resource conditions are sufficient.

In other words, the status of products, technology, and services is relatively good. In addition, in addition to their own strong capabilities, there are also some enterprises that can obtain strong support from local governments, the central government, or third parties.

Generally speaking, China’s more successful companies currently “going global” are concentrated in resource-demanding manufacturing companies with leading technological capabilities, such as Sany Heavy Industry, Huawei, etc.
