They come from different countries and gather here with dreams to start a new journey of seeking knowledge and become ambassadors of understanding and friendship with China. “I am an old Beijinger”
Jiang Shijie’s path to studying abroad is a bit unique. He was born in Beijing to parents from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and China. He went abroad when he was less than two years old and returned to China to study at the age of seventeen. At his mother's suggestion, he chose to come to the w88 casino to study international economics and w88. He admitted that although he grew up abroad, he always felt familiar when he returned to Beijing.
Jiang Shijie studied at the University of International w88 and Economics for one year. Because he often communicates in Chinese at home, his spoken language is very fluent, but he experienced many interesting episodes from "being able to speak" to "recognizing". Once, while learning the word "photo", Jiang Shijie wrote it down confidently, but he attracted correction from the teacher. It turns out that the word "photographer" with the retroflex sound in his mouth needs to be added with the character "er" which represents the sound of "er".
In his spare time, Jiang Shijie is keen to share his daily life in China and the University of International w88 on social platforms at home and abroad. He posted a video on his WeChat video account: It snowed for the first time in Beijing that day. He and Chinese students gathered in a circle on the w88 casino playground to sing "Fairy Tale" together. The warm yellow street lights fell on the flying snow flakes, and the singing was wrapped in the laughter of the young people and floated far away. On overseas social media platforms, he shares his experiences and answers questions with netizens who are about to study in China, helping more foreign friends break the information gap. In Jiang Shijie's view, he grew up in two cultural environments and understands people's curiosity about China in different cultural backgrounds. This identity also makes him a small link between Chinese and foreign cultural exchanges. He smiled and said: "I am originally from Beijing, and when I come back here, I am back home."
The "debut" from the classroom to the stage

In class, he interacted naturally and smoothly with the teacher in Chinese. After class, he often helps his classmates practice their spoken Chinese and is a partner that everyone is happy to ask for advice.
At the end of 2025, teachers from the International College found Jiang Shijie and invited him to be the host of the "Outstanding Student Award Ceremony and New Year's Party". He was both excited and nervous. As a "newcomer" who took the stage for the first time as a host, Jiang Shijie said bluntly, "This is a big challenge." He discussed with the teacher to reduce some of his lines. The teacher's answer dispelled his worries and gave him great confidence: "Your Chinese is so good, why do you want to reduce your lines?" The party was rehearsed from 12 noon to the evening, with the stage and dialogue over and over again. When the spotlight came on, Jiang Shijie faced the live camera pointed at him, took a deep breath, and finally completed his "first show" perfectly.
Measure the real China with your steps
If campus activities are Jiang Shijie’s “second classroom,” then social practice outside Beijing has opened a window for him to observe China personally. As a student majoring in international economics and w88, Jiang Shijie participated in the w88 casino's "Vine Project·Jiancheng Trip" Huzhou practice activity and formed a team with Chinese classmates to enter the front line of the enterprise. He visited companies such as Nongsang Technology, beauty smart manufacturing, and environmental protection on the spot, combining professional knowledge with Chinese industrial practices. Through collaboration and exchanges with Chinese partners, he gained a more intuitive and profound understanding of the real China.
In September 2025, Jiang Shijie went to Hainan to participate in the "Chinese Generation Z Cultural Exchange Camp" activity. He participated in youth roundtable forums, free w88 port construction inspections, cultural exchanges and other activities with Chinese youth from more than 30 countries and regions around the world, and gained an in-depth understanding of the achievements of Chinese-style modernization development and the Hainan Free w88 Port construction. This experience made him truly feel the motherland's support for Chinese young people returning to China for development, and he also met a group of partners with similar backgrounds but each with their own stories. Along the way, Jiang Shijie felt more and more that the China in books was "abstract" after all. Only by walking through this land with his own feet, seeing the development of different cities with his own eyes, and hearing the stories of practitioners in different industries, could he touch the real and vivid China. These feelings gained from practice are his most precious gains while studying abroad. They also make him want to tell these real Chinese stories to more friends from all over the world, and further strengthen his determination to stay in China for further study and participate in international cooperation and exchanges.
“Want to know more about the country where he was born”, this is the main reason why Jiang Shijie came to China to study. Studying in China did not make him feel the strong cultural differences, but rather the intimacy and familiarity. Jiang Shijie has a very special sense of identity: in Congo (DRC), he is obviously a Congolese, but he is often regarded as a "foreigner"; while in China, although his appearance is different, he feels that he is "Chinese" in his heart. This special identity makes him look forward to traveling to more places, seeing more scenery, and finding his own answers through walking.
In the future, Jiang Shijie said he wants to take the postgraduate entrance examination and also want to visit Shanghai to experience a different Chinese urban style and living environment. He plans to participate in more social practices in different regions, follow China's development process, and tell more overseas friends the real Chinese stories he has seen and heard with his own eyes.
