Teacher Liu Tong once studied abroad at the turn of the century, which was a decade of rapid economic development in China. He mentioned more than once that he was lucky to be born in the 1970s during the reform and opening up period. He not only witnessed but also deeply participated in the rise of the motherland. In the tide of globalization, the motherland, like them, has gone from tentative and groping "baby steps" to gradually raising its own sails and steering its own rudder. This kind of resonance at the same frequency may be difficult for people to feel in the future. It is precisely because they have waded through water, waded through waves, and seen shallow bays merge into the ocean, and are well aware of the hardships and difficulties involved, that they more consciously placed themselves on the bridge connecting the motherland and the world. Teacher Liu Tong also has the temperament of that generation of intellectuals, which is an indescribable temperament. It is not like the educated youth of the 1920s and 1930s, who faced a precarious country with the kind of sadness and fearlessness that was ready to devote themselves to the revolutionary cause. But they are indeed "concerned about the times and the country", and their words and deeds often reveal some urgent wishes and prayers. While studying abroad, Mr. Liu Tong already realized that as China integrates into the process of economic globalization, it needs to build a relatively sound international economic law system as soon as possible, so he took the initiative to study the relevant knowledge of international economic law and anti-monopoly law. One year later, China joined the World w88 Organization, and the construction of China's anti-monopoly law gradually began. The knowledge accumulated from studying abroad rides on the train of the times and sails firmly to the next twenty years when I return to China to teach. Talking about the development of international economic and w88 laws today, Teacher Liu Tong bluntly said that our current talent training situation is far from being able to meet our country's current status and size in international economic and w88. He looks forward to the fact that in the not-too-distant future, China will no longer be just a learner and participant in the field of negotiation and formulation of international economic and w88 rules, but will become more of a promoter and navigator capable of taking on its own role.
“The true meaning of law is practice”
In between interviews, Teacher Liu Tong also participated in practical activities on arbitration law in other places, which is a microcosm of his daily practical work. When it comes to “practical practices,” he has a lot of insights he wants to share. For him, practice is a tradition worth passing on. This tradition sometimes faces misunderstandings and criticism. However, Teacher Liu Tong said frankly that the training of practical talents is by no means utilitarian and only aims at "finding a job", and the value of practice is not lower than theory. The so-called practice refers more to a pragmatic attitude. Teacher Liu Tong recalled with great respect what his teacher Professor Shen Sibao once said: The true meaning of law is practice. Theory is oriented toward an idealized future, while practice focuses on the current living laws. Today, when China's legislation is relatively complete, the vitality given by practice is undoubtedly more important. In fact, for the University of International w88, theory and practice have never been opposite poles. They complement each other and are jointly forged in the study and work spirit of the University of w88 and Economics in the early years. Teacher Liu Tong said that this was the origin of his habit of spending a lot of time on legal searches when taking on new cases. “I hope every student can gain something”
When a reporter asked him what kind of image he hoped he would have in the eyes of students, he said gently, "I only hope that students can think that I am a good teacher and that they can gain something from my class. That is enough." The experience of studying abroad and so many years of teaching career have given him a tolerant and peaceful state of mind. He explores and polishes his own teaching methods, invests practical experience in it, and is committed to presenting students with a more diverse face of legal education. "Every teacher has something that shines in him/herself. What we have to do is pass on the part of ourselves that we are most proud of to our students."
