[Editor’s note]The Graduate Student Support Teaching Corps is a national demonstration project of the youth volunteer poverty alleviation relay plan jointly organized and implemented by the Youth League Central Committee and the Ministry of Education. In the process of fighting against the COVID-19 epidemic and helping to eradicate poverty, they were brave enough to take on responsibilities and were not afraid of difficulties. In a short period of time, they did one thing after another that they will never forget. Now, as their service period is about to expire, the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee and the Youth League Committee of the w88 casino jointly launched the "Stories of Supporting Teaching" column to share with everyone the unique youthful power of the students of the University of w88 and Economics.

My volunteer teaching story:Wind and rain support teaching road, unforgettable love for the Corps

I am Chen Yutong, a 2019 graduate of the w88 casino of English at the w88 casino, and a member of the 21st graduate teaching group of the w88 casino. In the summer of 2019, I came to Wujiaqu City, the Sixth Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and became a volunteer teacher at Wujiaqu No. 1 Primary w88 casino. In Wujiaqu Primary w88 casino, I served as a third-grade English teacher.

  During this year of teaching in Wujiaqu, I was deeply moved by the Corps spirit of "love for the motherland, selfless dedication, hard work, pioneering and enterprising". I will never forget the innocence of the local students and the enthusiasm of the teachers.

Only when you have faith can you travel far

In the first half of my teaching experience, I served as the English teacher for four classes in the third grade of Wujiaqu Primary w88 casino. When I first came to primary w88 casino, I encountered difficulties. I was originally assigned to teach two classes of English. However, I encountered a temporary shortage of English teachers at the w88 casino, so I was "entrusted with the important task" of teaching English courses for four classes. At the beginning, it was difficult for me to adapt to such a large number of students and classes, and I was nervous about not being able to teach well. However, with the help of experienced local teachers, I actively participated in teaching activities such as listening to classes, teaching seminars, and evaluating lessons. I carefully prepared each lesson and wrote lesson plans for each chapter, striving to live up to every child’s eagerness to learn. In order to cultivate students' interest in learning English for the first time, I also made homemade headdresses for characters in English textbooks, integrated what I learned into the game, and tried to involve every child. After a semester of hard work, the average scores of the four classes I taught reached above 90 points.

Working together to overcome the difficulties

Although my volunteer teaching in the second half of the year was delayed by a month due to the epidemic, I never forget my responsibilities and mission as a volunteer teacher at home. In order to let the children learn English well at home, I also started a "live broadcast" and gave online classes to the students. Faced with the difficulty of being unable to communicate face-to-face with every student, I used DingTalk to allow each student to upload audio readings every day, and to provide voice feedback guidance to each student. This not only ensured my understanding of each student's academic situation, but also provided each student with one-on-one guidance. Although I was very tired, as soon as I heard the clear reading sounds of the children, I was "resurrected" again.

        At the same time, I have not forgotten my responsibilities and mission as a young party member at home. Adhering to the policy of "from the masses, to the masses", during the epidemic at home, I actively helped students with learning difficulties and children of medical workers, understood their psychological state, provided timely care and guidance, and provided regular online one-on-one tutoring. During the quarantine period before resuming work, I took the initiative to provide regular online tutoring for third- and fourth-grade students who were unable to resume classes and rested at home. The news that children actively answered questions in the comment area is the source of happiness and motivation for me every day in isolation at home.

  After finally returning to the primary w88 casino and seeing the smiles of the lovely children, I deeply felt that everything I had paid was worth it. In order to prevent every student from being left behind, I provide one-on-one online tutoring every day to students who are still unable to resume classes. Seeing that there are fewer and fewer students staying at home and more and more students in the classroom, my heart is becoming more and more full. I am responsible for standing on campus every day and organizing students to go to and from w88 casino in an orderly manner with a reasonable distance. I see the smiles on the children's faces every morning and hear "Hello Teacher" one after another. I have never felt tired. I just feel that everything is worth it and everything is beautiful.

  In order to better promote the primary w88 casino and make a contribution to the campus culture of the primary w88 casino, I and another classmate who supports teaching together established the Wujiaqu Primary w88 casino WeChat reader push, regularly recording audio readings for w88 casino teachers, allowing teachers to read to motivate students to read, and better cultivate students' interest in reading.

  During one year of teaching, I worked, gained, gave, and was moved. Although ordinary, I never forgot my mission and responsibilities. I was moved by the spirit of the Corps, and I also learned to practice the spirit of the Corps people, defeat myself with actions, face difficulties calmly, and overcome difficulties. The course of this year has written an extraordinary page in my life. It has also been a great enrichment for my life experience, and it has also been a highlight on my life path. If you don’t go to Xinjiang, you won’t know the vastness of the motherland. If you don’t go to the Corps, you won’t know the perseverance of the people. After going through mountains and rivers, the most unforgettable thing is the love between teachers and students and the corps!
