Model of contemporary senior intellectuals - Ma Zuguang

Published: August 30, 2005 Edit:

Ma Zuguang has long been engaged in laser medium spectroscopy, new tunable lasers, nonlinear optics and application research. He has conducted long-term and systematic research on dimer excimer, solid three-atom excimer, four-atom molecular excimer, vacuum ultraviolet band ion excimer and other systems, and achieved a series of innovative results. At the same time, he is committed to developing new tunable lasers and electronics research with promising national defense applications, and has made significant progress. Internationally, he was the first to realize 10 laser oscillations, discovered 17 new fluorescence spectral regions, and was the first to observe 7 nonlinear optical processes, which has a certain influence in the international optical community. His research on "the first triplet transition of sodium diatomic molecules" is a hot topic internationally. He found a new excitation method and first observed fluorescence radiation. The research group led by him systematically focused on the excimer laser system, explored the possibility of generating tunable lasers theoretically and experimentally, and achieved a series of experimental successes. The subject group he leads has carried out a series of explorations and researches of great significance to the application of national defense optoelectronics, and has undertaken a number of major issues that need to be solved urgently in laser engineering applications. Some research results have won the National Natural Science Award and national patents, and have won multiple provincial and ministerial level Science and Technology Progress Awards.

The papers published by Ma Zuguang, such as "Emission Spectrum of UV-Pumped Na2(B 3∑g)-Na2(x 3∑u)" and "UV Excimer Emission in Na2", have had a great influence on the optical community at home and abroad. He edited the book "Laser Experimental Methods" and compiled "Nuclear Theory" and other works. He has published more than 140 major academic papers, 71 of which were accepted by SCI and EI, and compiled 3 books.

Introduction to Academician Ma Zuguang

Ma Zuguang was born in Beijing on April 11, 1928. From 1946 to 1950, he studied in the Department of Physics of Shandong University, Qingdao. In September 1950, he went to work at Harbin Institute of Technology and studied in the graduate class at the same time. During his studies, he was transferred to the Physics Teaching and Research Office as deputy director and lecturer. Joined the Communist Party of China on October 7, 1952. From August 1958 to 1970, he founded the nuclear physics major and served as director and associate professor. In 1970, he founded the Optoelectronics Technology Major (formerly Laser Major) of Harbin Institute of Technology. From August 1979 to November 1981, he was a visiting professor at Lambda Physiks and the University of Hannover. After returning to China, he served as director and professor of the Optoelectronics Teaching and Research Department, and as director of the Institute of Optoelectronics Technology of Harbin Institute of Technology. In 1994, he founded the National Key Laboratory (Key Laboratory of Tunable Laser Technology) and served as its director. In 1996, he served as the honorary director of the Institute of Optoelectronics of Harbin Institute of Technology. Since June 1986, he has been a doctoral supervisor in the doctoral program of physical electronics at Harbin Institute of Technology.

In 1987, he served as the first batch of experts and consultants in the national "863" laser field. From 1986 to 2000, he served as a director of the Optical Society of China. In October 1988, he served as a member of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, a member of the Optical Engineering Discipline Review Group, a member of the Military Industry Discipline Group of the State Education Commission, and a member of the Science and Technology Committee of the State Education Commission. In 1990, he served as deputy leader of the optoelectronics professional group of the Science and Technology Committee of the Ministry of Aeronautics and Astronautics. In the same year, he served as a member of the subject evaluation group of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. In 1991, he served as a member of the Science and Technology Committee of the Ministry of Aeronautics and Astronautics. In 2001, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Since 1982, he has served as the editorial board member of Acta Optics, the standing editorial board member of Spectroscopy and Spectral Analysis, the editorial board member of Quantum Electronics, and the chairman of the Heilongjiang Optical Society.
In 1960, Ma Zuguang was named the Red Flag Bearer of Harbin Institute of Technology. From 1982 to 1988, he was continuously rated as an outstanding Communist Party member of the w88 casino and was awarded the title of Outstanding Communist Party Member of Heilongjiang Province. He was awarded the Special Model Worker of Heilongjiang Province twice in 1984 and 1986. In 1986, he was awarded the title of National Outstanding Educator and the "May 1st" Labor Medal. In the same year, he won the first-class merit of the Ministry of Aerospace and was named an advanced worker in pre-research by the Ministry of Aerospace. On September 15, 1985, he attended the National Party Congress as a party representative. On October 25, 1987, he attended the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of China as a representative.

On July 15, 2003, Professor Ma Zuguang died of illness in Beijing at the age of 75.
