Professor Pan Jin'e graduated from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and is a visiting scholar at Johns Hopkins University in the United States and Vietnam General University. He has long been engaged in research on world socialism, contemporary Vietnam issues, international relations, contemporary political party issues and other fields. He has published nearly 100 papers at home and abroad, and has won the Outstanding Countermeasure Information Award of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences many times. He currently serves as the vice president of the World Socialism Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Social Sciences.
Starting from the natural endowment, population composition and historical evolution, Teacher Pan interprets Vietnam’s cultural characteristics and national psychology from the perspective of historical materialism. Next, after sorting out the development history of Vietnam since its reform and opening up in 1986, Teacher Pan summarized the four characteristics of Vietnam’s current reform and opening up: (1) the combination of bottom-up and top-down reforms; (2) gradual comprehensive comprehensive reform; (3) adhering to the socialist direction in the twists and turns of struggle; (4) the beginning of the "Vietnam Model". At the same time, Teacher Pan also pointed out that Vietnam’s current reform and opening up is facing many challenges, such as insufficient cadre capacity, corruption that has not been effectively curbed, reform mechanisms that have not yet been perfected, and prominent social and people’s livelihood issues. The effectiveness of Vietnam’s future reforms will also be affected by external factors such as the political structure of major countries and regions, the global economic situation, and so on. In terms of bilateral relations, due to the connected mountains and rivers, similar cultures, common ideals, and related interests, maintaining friendly relations and close ties between the two parties and countries of China and Vietnam is also conducive to Vietnam's steady development of reform, opening up, and international integration.
Professor Pan Jin'e's wonderful lecture won warm applause from the teachers and students present. During the question-and-answer session, teachers and students had in-depth discussions with Teacher Pan on issues such as cross-border economic zone cooperation and trilateral interaction between China, Vietnam and the United States. Teacher Pan patiently answered everyone’s questions one by one.
This lecture provides a platform for teachers and students to communicate with academic frontiers. It is of great significance to promote the construction of first-class disciplines, improve the level of teaching and research, and expand the horizons of teachers and students. The teachers and students present expressed that they benefited a lot from this lecture and hoped to have more opportunities to invite more well-known experts and scholars to the University of International w88 for exchanges.
