For this themed party day event, Dr. Liu Ye of the National Aid to Hubei Anti-epidemic Medical Team was specially invited to share online with teachers and students the thrilling, evocative and touching stories of his personal experience in the fight against the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic in 2020.
Liu Ye, a member of the Communist Party of China, holds a Ph.D. in Medicine from Peking University. He is currently the attending physician at the Department of Endocrinology at Peking University Third Hospital. He has been awarded the title of "Beijing Outstanding Resident Physician" and "Outstanding Young Physician of Peking University Third Hospital". In early February 2020, Liu Ye volunteered to go to Wuhan to participate in the fight against the epidemic, and stayed on the most dangerous front line - the medical treatment of critically ill COVID-19 pneumonia until Hubei achieved a complete victory in the fight against the epidemic. During the period of aiding Hubei to fight the epidemic, she also served as the secretary of a temporary party branch of the medical team aiding Hubei.

The first batch of medical teams from Peking University Third Hospital to assist Hubei departed on the first day of the Lunar New Year, the second batch departed on February 1st, and Liu Ye was part of the third batch, departing on February 6th. She said, “On the day of departure, I received a notification around four o’clock in the afternoon, started training at five o’clock, and set off at seven o’clock. Time was so tight that we didn't even have time to prepare our luggage. It snowed heavily in Beijing that night and the plane couldn't take off. It wasn't until the next morning that a charter flight was temporarily added to Wuhan. "Many people may have questions, are these team members selected? Or do they go voluntarily? Liu Ye said, "I can't say it is 100%, but at least 90% of them volunteered. We feel very honored to be selected as anti-epidemic personnel. ”

“We only have one plane in the entire Tianhe Airport. Except for a few airport staff, the entire airport is empty.” Liu Ye described the feeling of arriving in Wuhan for the first time. “On the way to the station, there were no vehicles in sight and all the windows were closed. The whole city was deserted and full of gloom, which made people feel depressed and bitter. It felt that the whole city was indeed in great need of help. ”
For the anti-epidemic medical staff arriving in Wuhan, adapting to such an environment is also a challenge. Liu Ye said, "I clearly remember that the first time I entered the intensive care unit was a night shift. There were 5 doors from the cleaning area to the ward. In front of the last door, I stopped unconsciously and took a deep breath. At that time, I thought to myself that the air was relatively clean. After entering this door, I had to breathe carefully. But after entering the last door, I was immersed in work, and started to communicate with patients and examine patients. All this was forgotten."

Although the process was difficult, Liu Ye said proudly, "After overcoming many difficulties, we have completed the anti-epidemic task well. What makes us particularly proud is that we have achieved zero infection of medical staff!"

"Doctors in the United States are very skeptical of our achievements, but this is what we have achieved," Liu Ye said. "On the one hand, this is due to the support of compatriots across the country; on the other hand, the leadership and construction of party organizations have played a very important role." The temporary party branch of the Third Hospital of Beijing Medical University in Wuhan received a total of 71 applications for party membership, 14 comrades were accepted as probationary party members, and 20 comrades were identified as party activists. During this period, two party secretaries wrote a letter to General Secretary Xi Jinping on behalf of the post-90s party members, reporting on the confidence and determination of the post-90s party members to participate in the fight against the epidemic. Unexpectedly, the general secretary responded quickly, which was a great encouragement to the entire anti-epidemic team. Liu Ye said, "This fight against the epidemic is a very good test and experience for us young medical staff, and it also fulfills the expectations of the party and the motherland for us. After Dr. Liu Ye’s report, host Feng Jianfen told everyone about the unknown actions of Liu Ye’s husband, Wang Tianyi, deputy dean of the w88 casino of Finance, during the fight against the epidemic. When the Beijing blood bank was in crisis in early March this year, Wang Tianyi risked the epidemic and resolutely joined the blood donation team while his wife went to the front line in Wuhan and took care of their young son.
