Youth role model | Western Program volunteer Gao Jinyu: Be a "Gelsang flower" blooming on the snowy plateau
There is a very common flower on the snow-covered plateau. The stronger the wind, the more erect the body becomes; the harder the rain hits, the greener the leaves become; the sun shines brighter, the more beautiful the flower becomes. This is the Kelsang flower that embodies the Tibetan people's longing for happiness, good luck and beautiful emotions. In Huiyuan, there is also such a small Kelsang flower "seed", riding on the east wind of the Tibet Special Project of the Western Plan, flying to the plateau, landing on the ground and sprouting. He is Gao Jinyu, a student of Shanghai University of w88 and Economics who aims to bloom in the snow-covered plateau.
Want to be a Gesang flower, not afraid of wind and rain
Gao Jinyu is an undergraduate majoring in the 2015 Honors Bachelor of Economics Experimental Class of the w88 casino of International Business and Economics. During his time at w88 casino, he served as the secretary-general of the University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, the deputy director of the Sports Department of the w88 casino of International Business and Economics, and the vice-president of the w88 casino Badminton Association. He also won honorary titles such as "Outstanding Grassroots Cadres of Capital University and Vocational College Pioneer Cup", "Outstanding Student Leaders of the w88 casino", and "Outstanding Student Leaders of the w88 casino of International Business and Economics". It should have been natural for Gao Jinyu to have excellent academic performance, a glorious club record, and step by step to get a job in first-tier cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. However, he gave up the script of "winner in life" in the eyes of others and chose the "hard" mode. In July 2019, he participated in the Western Plan Tibet Special Project and started his career in the Law and Regulation Office of the Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision of the Tibet Autonomous Region.

In May 2019, a poster for the Western Plan caught Gao Jinyu’s eyes. “Go to the west, go to the grassroots, and go to the place where the motherland and the people need us most.” Gao Jinyu was deeply moved by the simple words. In Gao Jinyu's heart, he is a college student trained hard by his motherland. He has the responsibility and obligation to go to the places where the motherland and the people need it most and contribute his strength. Therefore, he quickly signed up for the Tibet Special Project of the Western Plan without hesitation, and he wanted to let his youth shine on the snow-covered plateau. But when Gao Jinyu confessed his plan to his family, all he got were objectionable answers: "The altitude is so high, so far away from home, and the conditions are so difficult. Why are you going to Tibet?" Gao Jinyu felt confused by his family's confusion and opposition, and he couldn't help asking his heart over and over again: "What do I want to do?" During that time, the bonds of family ties and family worries made Gao Jinyu feel sad all the time. However, when Gao Jinyu once again saw the promotional video of the Western Plan for Tibet, saw the bright smiles of the people, and saw the joy on the faces of his predecessors, he still strengthened his belief and resolutely chose the plateau and Tibet. After talking with his parents all night, he finally convinced them.
Go full throttle and challenge the "hard" mode
“Choose Tibet not only because of my longing for the purity and freedom of the snowy plateau, but also because I want to go to the most difficult place to devote my youth. The more difficult the place, the more you can learn and the more you can get exercise.”
In July 2019, after many layers of selection, Gao Jinyu finally got his wish and boarded the train bound for Lhasa, the "Sunlight City", and was selected to work in the Policy and Regulation Research Office of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Tibet Autonomous Region. Gao Jinyu's department is mainly responsible for drafting important manuscripts for the autonomous region's Discipline Inspection and Supervision Committee and the main leaders of the committee. Gao Jinyu, who has just arrived at the post, takes one step at a time, starting with "back office" and learning the most basic document circulation. Although Gao Jinyu is cautious when working, he still can't avoid making various small mistakes as he is new to the job and is not the right professional. For example, when proofreading a speech, Gao Jinyu did not notice errors in professional wording in the manuscript. This problem was discovered when colleagues proofread it for the second time. Gao Jinyu felt deeply self-blame and felt that he had not done a good job. However, his colleagues not only did not blame him, but also patiently taught him relevant professional knowledge. In his later work, whenever Gao Jinyu had any problems, department leaders would always give him "hand-in-hand" guidance. Gao Jinyu felt that he was very lucky. "These mentor-like colleagues provided great help to my work and life in Tibet, and also provided important guidance for my life path."

In November 2019, Gao Jinyu was arranged by the department to participate in research work in Shigatse City and Ngari area. This was his first time to go deep into the grassroots to understand Tibet, and it was also his first time to feel the danger in high-altitude areas. Facing the dry and harsh plateau climate, Gao Jinyu, who had been working hard for days, started to have a fever and a cold. Even when he was resting, he could only breathe oxygen and fall asleep. Finally, in Zhongba County, Shigatse, with an average altitude of more than 5,000 meters, Gao Jinyu developed a strong altitude sickness, which was very dangerous for a time. However, his colleagues who traveled with him did not give up on him, but stayed with him all night until Gao Jinyu's physical condition improved the next day.
Colorful youth is about struggling!
“The visits and research along the way made me deeply feel the difficulty of grassroots work, and it also strengthened my determination to take root in Tibet.”
The day after the investigation, Gao Jinyu began to participate in the preparations for the fifth plenary session of the ninth session of the Autonomous Region Discipline Inspection Commission as a member of the text material team. After several months of continuous learning and experience, he gradually grew up at work. During the preparations for the plenary session, Gao Jinyu's work status became "five plus two, white plus black". Working seven days a week and working overtime until after twelve o'clock every day has become his daily routine. Facing the busy work, Gao Jinyu did not slack off at all, and finally, together with his colleagues in the department, successfully completed the preparations for the plenary session, which was highly praised by the leaders. Gao Jinyu said that when he saw the successful conclusion of the plenary session of the Autonomous Region Discipline Inspection Commission, he felt proud and happy.
In March 2020, Gao Jinyu was transferred to the Regulations Office of the Autonomous Region Discipline Inspection and Supervision Committee. As an economics major, he had no clue about the rigorous regulatory work. He had to start from scratch and learn everything from scratch. With the help of leaders of relevant departments, Gao Jinyu studied while trying to draft laws and regulations, and gradually adapted to the work of the regulations office. He successively participated in drafting a number of normative documents of the Autonomous Region Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision, and participated in the cleanup of normative documents of the Autonomous Region Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision. He took the lead in compiling a compilation of normative documents of the Autonomous Region Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision.
Hand in hand on the plateau, I have an agreement with Tibet
Gao Jinyu, who has a wide range of interests and hobbies during college, has not forgotten to show his optimistic nature as a "happy lifer" after work. He often actively participates in various activities organized by the unit. His vigorous figure can be seen at the unit football match every Thursday afternoon; he also participated in the unit's speech contest on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the National Day and won the first place. He also actively participated in the tree planting activities organized by the unit and left small trees he planted on the snowy plateau...

In more than a year, Gao Jinyu experienced a lot, gained a lot, and learned a lot. Just like the sentence he wrote when he stepped on the train to Tibet, "If you want to have what you have never had, then you must experience what you have never experienced." Gao Jinyu said that he has no regrets about taking root in Tibet and dedicating his youth. In the future of life, he is also determined to continue to be an ordinary Gesang flower on the snowy plateau and bloom his gorgeous youth.
