Over the past 10 years, under the correct leadership of the w88 casino party committee, under the careful guidance of the Regional and Country Research Institute, and with the strong support of the Department of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao of the Ministry of Commerce and the Permanent Secretariat of the Economic and w88 Cooperation Forum between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), all the research and staff of the center have worked hard, united and worked together, adhered to the purpose of serving the country, society and enterprises, continued to carry out academic exchanges between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and achieved fruitful research results.

Focus on scientific research and move toward think tanks

Since the establishment of the Center, it has compiled and published various academic reports such as the "10-Year Report of the Economic and w88 Cooperation Forum between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) (2003-2013)" (Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual) and "Study on Portuguese-speaking Countries (2013)". From 2014 to 2021, the “Portuguese-speaking Countries Development Report” (Portuguese-speaking Countries Blue Book) academic annual report has been compiled for six consecutive years. The above-mentioned publications written, edited and published by the Center focus on reflecting the overall and national economic and social development status and trends of Portuguese-speaking countries, and expounding the results of cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. In particular, the "Portuguese-speaking Countries Development Report" (Portuguese-speaking Countries Blue Book) comprehensively, systematically and in-depth explains the annual development changes, characteristics and directions of Portuguese-speaking Countries, provides intellectual support for government departments to formulate policies for Portuguese-speaking Countries, provides valuable reference for Chinese enterprises to develop cooperation in Portuguese-speaking Countries, and also provides a platform for exchanges for institutions engaged in teaching and scientific research in Portuguese-speaking Countries.

Hold a series of activities and carry out academic exchanges. In 2013, the 10th Anniversary Seminar of the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Economic and w88 Cooperation Forum (Macao) was held. In 2014, the Center co-organized a seminar on the development of China-Brazil and Portugal relations with the Institute of China Asia-Pacific Studies in Brazil. In the same year, the Center co-organized a seminar on China-Portugal relations with the Portuguese China Observer Association. In 2015, the Center co-organized a seminar on the future development of cooperation between China and Brazil with the Instituto de Campinas, Brazil, and Together with the Institute of China Asia-Pacific Research in Brazil and the Institute of International Studies in Macau, it co-sponsored a seminar on the role of the Macao SAR in the cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries and the development of relations between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. In 2016, the center jointly organized a seminar on education and culture between China and Portuguese-speaking countries in conjunction with the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. In the same year, the Center organized a lecture by the former President of Cape Verde, His Excellency Pires on the 40 Years of Friendly Relations between Portugal and China, and a seminar on the development of Forum China-Portugal. From 2017 to 2019, the Center, together with the Brazil-China Asia-Pacific Institute and the Macao Institute of International Studies, jointly organized the annual joint research conference on Portuguese-speaking countries for three consecutive years. The above series of seminars have not only promoted exchanges between the Center and research institutions in mainland China, the Macao SAR and Portuguese-speaking Countries, but also promoted the in-depth development of research on Portuguese-speaking Countries at home and abroad. Since 2020, the sudden COVID-19 epidemic has brought great difficulties to academic research, but the center has continued to hold seminars such as "Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries during the COVID-19 Epidemic" through a combination of online and offline methods.

Undertake research projects and cultivate and train teams. In 2017, the center was approved to become one of the first batch of regional country research registration centers by the Ministry of Education. It undertook two Ministry of Education projects, "Research on the Cooperation Mechanism between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries" and "Research on Relations between China and Portugal" and successfully completed the projects. In 2018, the Center successfully held a seminar on promoting w88 and investment cooperation between Portuguese-speaking countries. 26 department-level officials from Portuguese-speaking countries came to China to participate in the seminar, visited the Canton Fair in Guangzhou, and inspected Tencent Group in Shenzhen. The online training course on w88 and investment facilitation in Portuguese-speaking countries organized by the Center in 2021 attracted the participation of more than 70 economic and w88 officials from five Portuguese-speaking countries. The 2022 Portuguese-speaking Countries w88 Promotion Online Training Course was attended by more than 60 department-level officials in the economic and w88 field from Portuguese-speaking Countries.

Participate in third-party evaluation and review Chinese-Portuguese bilingual translations. From 2018 to 2019, the Center organized experts and scholars to participate in the "Third Party Evaluation of the 15th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Forum for Economic and w88 Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao)" inspection and research. Some researchers participated in the writing of the main report and country reports, resulting in a Chinese report of 150,000 words. At the same time, the center organized the translation and review of the main report and country report in Portuguese (approximately 200,000 words).

Mainstream media attention, expanding the center’s influence

Over the years, the Center has been committed to the study of the economy and society of Portuguese-speaking countries as a whole and individual countries. It has published the Blue Book of Portuguese-speaking Countries, organized annual joint research conferences, carried out exchanges with other universities in the mainland, established close ties with research institutions in the Macao SAR, and established ties with teaching and research institutions in Portuguese-speaking countries, which has attracted the attention of domestic mainstream media. Wang Cheng'an, the center's chief expert, has been interviewed by the country's mainstream media many times, promoting the center's academic achievements and expanding the center's influence in the study of Portuguese-speaking countries. Researchers from the center went to Brazil to attend seminars on the BRICS countries, in Portugal to attend seminars on the establishment of the Institute of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries at the University of Coimbra in Portugal, and in Macao SAR to attend seminars on the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Forum between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. Including establishing close cooperative relations with researchers from the Brazilian Research Center of the Institute of European Studies, the Institute of West Asian and African Studies, and the Institute of Latin American Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and establishing long-term cooperative relations with Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shanghai International Studies University, and other universities. It has established cooperative relations with the Macau Institute of International Studies, the Institute of China-Asia Pacific Studies in Brazil, the Portuguese China Observer Association, and the Institute of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries at the University of Coimbra, and has carried out fruitful academic activities with each other. Stabilize the scientific research team and cultivate research talents. The center's research team consists mostly of part-time researchers from national and university research institutions. On the premise of completing their own teaching and research tasks, they actively participate in various academic activities of the center and have formed a relatively stable research team of more than 70 people.
