At the beginning of the “15th Five-Year Plan”, learning and education on establishing and practicing a correct view of political performance are carried out throughout the party. From the plenary session of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, special seminars for leading cadres at the provincial and ministerial levels to the National Two Sessions, General Secretary Xi Jinping has profoundly clarified the extreme importance of a correct view of political performance on multiple occasions. He has criticized erroneous views of political performance such as "starting from the interests of individuals or small groups", "impetuous" and "rushing for quick success", setting a benchmark and drawing a clear bottom line for officials to start their own businesses. The earnest teachings remind people of two allusions mentioned many times by the General Secretary——
First, dripping water penetrates stone.
“I admire the spirit of ‘drops of water wear through stones’” and “encourage cadres to work hard and focus on long-term, paving the way for people”... During his local work, Comrade Xi Jinping praised the landscape of dripping water wearing through stones. From the success of countless water droplets that finally penetrated the stone, he understood the "philosophy of life and movement" and praised "a perfect personality that is willing to sacrifice for overall success".
First, Foolish Old Man moved mountains.
“Mountains will not get bigger or taller, but people will have endless descendants. As long as you persevere, the mountains will be moved away one day”… Since the new era, General Secretary Xi Jinping has spoken of this ancient fable on many occasions, emphasizing that “vigorously carry forward the spirit of the Foolish Old Man who moved mountains”, “set the goal and work hard” and “unswervingly push our cause forward to the glorious other side”.
A drop of water penetrates a stone, and a foolish old man moves a mountain, which contains the common way to achieve success. Among them, there are not only the gradual law of the development of things, but also the clear guidance of the correct view of political achievements and the consistent political character of the Communists - "Success does not have to be mine, success must be mine."
Success does not have to be mine, it shows the spiritual state of being willing to contribute and pave the way——
In June 2004, the people of Changting, Fujian Province reported to Comrade Xi Jinping the good news that soil erosion control had “finally yielded results.”
When Comrade Xi Jinping was working in Fujian, he visited Changting five times for investigation since May 1996. Based on the efforts of his predecessors for more than ten years, he made a long-term plan to "complete the land remediation and benefit the people" in eight to ten years. When the work was fully effective, it was already after he left office.
When working at the local level, he did not engage in the "three fires" and did not focus on GDP. He used research to pave the way and planned development plans beyond the scope of his term. After serving as the general secretary, he started from the long-term plan and focused on ecological and environmental protection. , started the construction of Xiongan New Area... Along the way, General Secretary Xi Jinping made it clear with practical actions: Real political achievements do not lie in becoming famous or making a sensation in one day, but in laying a foundation, benefiting the long-term, and truly standing the test of practice, the people, and history.
Be humble, take root, and achieve results. Analogous to a drop of water wearing away a stone, "When every worker becomes such a 'water drop' and such a victim, why should we worry that we cannot create some kind of historical opportunity for success?!"
Success must be mine, reflecting the historical responsibility of knowing and taking responsibility, and who else but me——
Not long ago, "Qiushi" magazine published an important article by General Secretary Xi Jinping, "Let the willingness to take responsibility, the courage to take responsibility, and the good responsibility to take responsibility become a common practice." In the article, sentences such as "I just want to take credit without taking over, I just want to be outstanding but not contribute" directly pointed out the negative thinking of negativity, neglect of governance, and inaction, and pointed out the direction for the whole party to forge a responsible spirit.
Only by being responsible and responsible can everything be successful, and this is where the responsibilities and values of leading cadres are reflected.
Why do you repeatedly praise Gu Wenchang’s efforts in controlling desertification and afforestation and Fuze’s persistence? Why do you admire the persistence of three generations of Babusha’s “six old men” in relaying and sowing green deserts? Why praise the builders of the Hongqi Canal for their tenacity in digging the canal from the cliff and reshaping the mountains and rivers? Why is there so much emphasis on the continuous struggle of “driving nails”, “hammering one hammer after another” and “working hard one after another”?
It is precisely because great goals cannot be achieved overnight. Only with the ambition of a foolish old man to move mountains, digging one spade after another, and working from generation to generation, "there will be endless scarcity for future generations", can we achieve step by step from quantitative change to qualitative change. As General Secretary Xi Jinping said: "Building a modern and powerful socialist country and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is a relay race. We must run one stroke after another, and each generation must achieve good results for the next generation."
The blueprint for the "15th Five-Year Plan" has been drawn, and the new journey is a new Long March. To firmly establish and practice a correct view of political performance, we must not only cultivate the state of mind that success does not have to be my own, but also forge ahead and take responsibility for success.
We are confident that “as long as we have the ambition of a foolish old man to move mountains, the perseverance of a drop of water to penetrate a stone, a down-to-earth attitude, hard work, and even small steps to reach a thousand miles, we will be able to turn the grand goal into a beautiful reality.”
