The purpose of this seminar is to discuss the role of educational equity in common prosperity, conduct discussions around the measurement indicators of educational equity, and provide targeted guidance for the next step.

 

Professor Min Weifang first made the aboveA keynote report titled “Indicator System on Educational Equity”. Professor Min Weifang pointed out that studying the issue of educational equity and building a scientific and reasonable educational equity indicator system are of great significance for achieving high-quality development and common prosperity. He divided the educational equity indicator system into three levels: individual, regional, and national, and two directions: horizontal equity and vertical equity. By analyzing the research results of research institutions and scholars, he found the 10 most common educational equity indicator systems, and found that the indicator "distribution of educational resources" appeared most frequently. He analyzed how the allocation of educational resources promotes equity from both the perspectives of horizontal and vertical equity, and proposed specific measures for public education finance to promote educational equity.

 

Professor Guo Congbin mainly shared the five mechanisms through which educational equity promotes common prosperity, and focused on three aspects of indicators that tilt education towards low-income families, promote positive social mobility, and block the intergenerational transmission of poverty, including the educational return rate of children from low-income families, the impact of educational expansion on the educational opportunities of children from low-income families, and the impact of information intervention experiments on the educational choices and educational achievements of low-income families. Professor Zhao Hongxia introduced the relationship between educational equity and common prosperity, pointed out that there is a lack of relevant indicator systems and empirical studies in current research, and focused the research theme on how educational equity promotes common prosperity, and introduced Zhejiang Province and Fujian Province as examples——Explore the practical experience of education in promoting common prosperity, etc.

 

Professor Cao Yongdong introduced the theoretical origins of the thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era from the perspective that common prosperity is the essential requirement of socialism with Chinese characteristics, that common prosperity is a long-term historical process, and that common prosperity of socialism with Chinese characteristics cannot go hand in hand and be achieved overnight. He also deeply explained the relationship between common prosperity and educational equity.

 

Researcher Xue Xinlong introduced the rules of higher education investment in countries above the middle-income stage. Through empirical research on the contribution of higher education investment to economic growth above the middle-income stage and international case studies of higher education investment models, he extracted inspiration and reference for my country's higher education investment in the current development stage from the perspective of international comparison.
