Only by improving people’s livelihood can we concentrate our efforts

A few days ago, General Secretary Hu Jintao pointed out when participating in the deliberation of the Jiangsu delegation of the National Two Sessions that people's livelihood is connected with the people's hearts, and the people's hearts unite the people's power. When economic development encounters difficulties, it is even more important to intensify efforts to improve people's livelihood, expand employment through multiple channels, speed up the improvement of the social security system, continuously improve the level of education and medical services, effectively solve the most direct and practical interests of the people, and make every effort to maintain social stability. This requirement has strong practical relevance and important guiding significance for the solid advancement of in-depth study and practice of the Scientific Outlook on Development.
The people are the foundation of the country, and the foundation is the foundation of the country. People-oriented is the core of the Scientific Outlook on Development, and benefiting the people is the purpose of learning and practicing activities. Since the study and practice activities were launched, units in various places have always regarded improving people's livelihood as the core content of implementing the Scientific Outlook on Development. In accordance with the principle of doing their best according to their ability, they have done many practical and good things for the masses and won praise from the masses. Currently, affected by the international financial crisis, my country's economic development is facing great difficulties. The challenges are indeed serious, but the opportunities still exist. Faced with this situation, the most important thing is to boost confidence and rally people's hearts. To achieve this, we must first rely on all-out efforts to maintain stable and rapid economic development, and secondly rely on improving people's livelihood and promoting harmony. The more difficult the period, the more we must adhere to scientific development and people-centeredness, and the more we must pay attention to protecting people's livelihood, maintaining stability, and promoting harmony. Because people's livelihood is connected with people's hearts, only stability can lead to development. Only by always paying attention to people's livelihood and constantly improving people's livelihood can we truly win the sincere support of the people and form strong cohesion and centripetal force.
The key to improving people's livelihood is to solve the most direct and practical interest issues that the people are most concerned about. The interests of the masses are no small matter, and people's livelihood issues are bigger than heaven. Regardless of whether they are participating in the first or second batch of study and practice activities, localities and units must follow the requirements of the General Secretary’s speech and integrate the improvement of people’s livelihood throughout the activities. We must attach great importance to people's livelihood issues involving education, employment, medical care, distribution, social security, stability and other basic livelihood issues and do everything possible to solve them. Because these issues are related to the welfare of the people, and are connected with the hearts and minds of the party and the people. For every job, we must try our best to complete it with high standards and high quality, and ensure that everything is answered and everything is fulfilled.
Cadres at all levels, especially leading cadres, shoulder important responsibilities in improving people's livelihood. They must be brave enough to take on their responsibilities and fulfill their mission. We must vigorously carry forward the fine style of work, always keep the safety and security of the people at heart, do more practical and good things that satisfy public opinion, relieve people's worries, and increase people's interests, and conscientiously correct outstanding problems that harm the interests of the people; carry forward the spirit of hard struggle, modelly implement the central government's regulations on party and government agencies to strictly enforce economy, and resolutely oppose pomp and comparison. We should avoid generosity, extravagance and extravagance, and use funds in urgently needed areas to promote economic and social development and improve people's lives; firmly establish and adhere to a correct outlook on career, work, and political achievements, study conscientiously, be an honest person, do things cleanly, and always maintain noble spiritual pursuits and moral sentiments.
As long as we always share the joys and sorrows with the broad masses of the people, and take improving people's livelihood and enhancing people's well-being as the fundamental goal, we will surely be able to win the hearts and minds of the people, pool their wisdom and strength, and form an invincible and invincible powerful force.
