The Sixth Plenary Session of the 16th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China comprehensively analyzed the situation and tasks, studied several major issues in building a socialist harmonious society, and made the following decisions.

1. The importance and urgency of building a harmonious socialist society

Building a socialist harmonious society is our party’s use of Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and“Three Represents”Guide by important thoughts, the major strategic tasks proposed based on the overall layout of the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the overall construction of a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way reflect the inherent requirements of building a prosperous, democratic, civilized and harmonious socialist modern country, and reflect the common aspirations of the whole Party and the people of all ethnic groups in the country.

Social harmony is the goal of our party's unremitting struggle. After the founding of New China, our party has conducted arduous explorations to promote social harmony, accumulated positive and negative experiences, and made important progress.

2. Guiding ideology, goals, tasks and principles for building a harmonious socialist society

The socialist harmonious society we want to build is a harmonious society that the Communist Party of China leads all people to jointly build and enjoy on the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
