This can be seen from the trend of technological revolution in the world today. Innovation has become the driving force for regional development. The rapid economic development, both in terms of quantity and quality, shows that innovation is a powerful driving force for regional economy. China's economy has passed the early stage of the industrial revolution and entered the era of knowledge economy. There are a wide variety of products on the Chinese market, and Made in China has become synonymous with Chinese products. However, most of our current products are in a low-to-medium level, and there is still a considerable gap between us and developed countries in terms of high technology. For example, in the market, China has excess manufacturing capacity in many industries. For example, we have excess suit fabrics, but China's best suit fabrics are still imported; we have excess elevator production capacity, but elevators in China's three-star and above hotels are all imported; we have severe excess machine tool production capacity, but China imports tens of thousands of CNC machine tools and intelligent machine tools every year. Where is the source of this innovation? Mainly in college, I think. Some people in society believe that for universities, applied and theoretical scientific research are in conflict with each other; cooperation between universities and enterprises is a dilemma for universities. Are universities lowering the level of theoretical research for enterprises and specifically providing them with skill-based services? Or continue to maintain a high level of scientific and technological research? In fact, in the era of mass education, the basic laws of education require that we cannot use unified models and standards to run universities. Universities must be differentiated. Some universities must become world-class universities, pursuing high-level scientific research; some universities must become vocational and technical universities, cultivating professional and technical talents with strong practical skills and strong application. For high-level, research-oriented universities, they must have independent and innovative scientific research results, and they must not follow others and be a "second-rate dealer", just imitating and simply inheriting.
