Restaurant Story

w88 casino News Network (Reporter Li Jing Correspondent Ren Meilin)The competitions in the water park are in full swing, and the number of coaches and athletes is increasing day by day. Diversified dining needs have put forward higher requirements for venue catering. There are six volunteers working at the venue's catering business, and they are responsible for all reception work in the athletes' restaurant.

The athletes' restaurant is different from other staff restaurants in the venue. It is stipulated that only athletes and coaches are allowed to dine with vouchers, so verification has become one of the main tasks of the volunteers. After nearly ten days of work, many athletes know these enthusiastic volunteers. There are two Cuban athletes who are particularly interested in Chinese. They invited volunteers to be Chinese teachers and asked them how to say "Thank you, hello, goodbye, come on" in Chinese. Then they marked the pinyin on a piece of paper in their country's language and practiced constantly. When the volunteers asked these words again the next day, some of them had forgotten them, but they would come back and learn them over and over again. The volunteers would take the trouble to tell him the standard pronunciation every time. Seeing their serious and hard-working attitude towards learning, the volunteers felt very happy and cute.

Of course, this job is not easy. Since the athletes' restaurant has strict entry rules, volunteers had to explain them repeatedly to the athletes. There was a Belarusian coach who made sure to let his volunteer translator eat with him for free in the athletes' restaurant and explained that he would bring money next time. The volunteer told him that he did not take food out because he was afraid that the high temperature would cause the food to spoil and make the athletes hungry. After hard persuasion, the Belarusian coach finally accepted the suggestion with a smile. A coach of the Brazilian team came to the athletes' restaurant at noon one day, but was unable to enter because he did not carry his ID. The volunteer patiently explained the rules to him and hoped that the coach could go back to get his certificate. Despite the hot weather outside, the volunteers' reasonable communication convinced him. The coach rode the bicycle back to Jingshui station very cooperatively, and then returned to the restaurant. Volunteer He Shuang described with a smile: “The coach was very humorous at the time. After getting his ID back, he walked up to me, showed his name badge, and said with a smile, ‘May I come in?(Can I come in)’. "It is also the volunteers' good communication and sincere service attitude that have won the understanding and active cooperation of the athletes and coaches.

Since it is an athletes restaurant, volunteers can see and interact with team members from all over the world. They sent blessings to each team member, and they felt particularly cordial when meeting the Chinese team. The Chinese female kayaking coach has to bring some bread for some athletes. The bread is in bulk and needs to be served on a plate with another plate on top. Since it was raining outside, she couldn't carry it alone, so volunteer Dong Lei took the initiative to help. However, the wind was very strong and it was inconvenient to hold an umbrella. Without a raincoat, Dong Lei braved the rain and ran to the boathouse with the coach. When she came back, they were soaked by the rain, but they were still very excited. They felt that doing something for the Chinese team was the most fulfilling thing.

Every day, volunteers have lunch in advance and use their lunch time to serve the athletes. They still need to go to other restaurants to help after 3:30. This kind of work is busy and fulfilling for them, but as they themselves said: "We feel that our enthusiasm and motivation are still the same, and many pleasant episodes constitute the life of Olympic volunteers that accompany us. We cherish these beautiful days, work hard to complete our mission, and contribute our modest efforts to the Beijing Olympics."
