For a long time, I have been responding to the country’s call and actively participating in global governance. I have participated in the preparation of the International Youth Humanities Dialogue Conference, assisted in the establishment of the Global Governance Talent Development Association of the w88 casino, and the first Global Governance Talent Summer Camp of the w88 casino. At the same time, he was fully funded by the China Scholarship Council in 2019 and went to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization headquarters in Vienna, Austria, for an internship.

Six months ago, when they learned that I had successfully applied for an internship at the headquarters of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, almost everyone would subconsciously ask me: What is the use of your major in the United Nations?

What about the United Nations? It is people wearing suits and leather shoes, speaking languages ​​of various countries at their fingertips, casually discussing the changes in the world, and selflessly serving all mankind.

So, with this question that has been asked several times, when I joined the Vienna headquarters of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization as an intern in the Talent Management Office of the Personnel Department, and became one of the five Chinese interns at the UNIDO headquarters to experience a six-month internship, I felt unconfident and uneasy. I'm afraid that when I step out of the country, I will only think that the blue sky and white clouds in Europe will be so lovely; just to enjoy the clean air that is friendly to allergic rhinitis patients; just to taste whether the water in the Alps and the Danube River will be sweeter than the water in the Miyun Reservoir...

So, “What’s the use? ", like a sword of Damocles, always hung over my head during the internship, making me dare not relax.

Now, six months later, when I face this problem again, I finally have some results and have some confidence to answer it.

This confidence comes from my firmer political stance and professionalism. Before going abroad, I was the first student from the w88 casino of Marxism at the w88 casino to be selected into the “Fourth Horse Racing Class”. At the same time, as a party activist and student cadre, I can also correct my attitude, improve my ideological awareness, and establish a good leadership and role model. During my internship abroad, I maintained close contact with the party introducer and the party branch. My friends joked that I might be the first person in history to write an ideological report in the United Nations office.

During the six months in Europe, I traveled to nine countries and completed research on communist museums in cities such as Vienna, Berlin, Warsaw, Prague and Budapest, accumulating certain materials for the next step of studying communism-related topics in Eastern European countries. When I truly experienced and realized the meaning of the words "capitalism" and "Western media", I understood the horror of public opinion control under the so-called "freedom of speech"; I heard about a series of transactions conducted under the guise of "democracy" and "freedom"; I saw the indifference of refugees who wantonly robbed the police... The more countries I travel to, the more I understand the difficulty of governing the country, and the more significant the significance of road advantages, system advantages and theoretical advantages.

This confidence comes from the voice I convey to the country. Due to my proactive performance in the first month of my internship, I was sent to the Vienna Diplomatic Academy as one of the representatives of UNIDO’s Human Resources Department to hold an employment information session to introduce the UNIDO internship program to the students of the Vienna Diplomatic Academy. I feel a sense of accomplishment when I introduce these foreign young people of the same age and give some reference opinions on career choices after understanding their situations. Later I learned that this was the first time that interns could participate in recruitment promotion activities, and it was also the first time that Chinese faces appeared in the promotion team.

At the same time, during the internship, I received research teams from more than 40 ministries, commissions and units, including the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the General Office of the Central Committee, and provided them with simultaneous interpretation, consecutive interpretation and other support work.

In addition, after work, I also serve as the head of Chinese interns at the United Nations in Vienna and the volunteer leader of the Chinese Language Association in Vienna. I participated in organizing and coordinating the 2019 United Nations Chinese Language Day in Vienna hosted by the Chinese Mission in Vienna. I was received by the heads of the mission, the Austria-China Friendship Association and the United Nations Chinese Language Association in Vienna and received the "Excellent Volunteer" certificate.

The confidence also comes from me introducing China’s long history and current rapid development to my colleagues. When my foreign colleagues learned that China's security situation is excellent and there is no need to worry about safety when walking on the streets in the early morning, they all exclaimed in amazement; when my foreign friends learned that China's 4G signal can cover even in remote mountainous areas, they felt incredible; when they learned that shopping on Chinese websites can basically be delivered to their hands within three days; when they learned that the entire city of "Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen" was working all night, they even showed expressions of disbelief.

I hope that college students in the new era will not be immersed in the small world of their own "interests" but should be brave enough to broaden their horizons and understand the world, so as to understand our country's national conditions more clearly. When you understand the environment you live in, truly love your hometown, and the country where you grew up and live, and you are willing to breathe and share the same destiny with it, then it must be the most "useful" thing in the world. Of course, maybe one day you will come to an international organization for an internship like me. I hope you will not pay special attention to "useful" or "useless", but truly "do useless things to enjoy your career."
