Having always loved writing and photography, he joined the reporter team of the w88 casino news network during his freshman year. Each time he completes a competition, his vision will be broadened and his thinking will be sublimated in a more diverse way. Some people say that humanistic documentary photography requires the accumulation of quality in all aspects, and his time in the debate team also added weight to his future photography work.
Workplace experience, modest pursuit
“Put down your arrogance” may be the four-character motto that Pan Pengyuan will follow after his internship.
In the summer after finishing his sophomore year and entering his junior year, he started his first real internship at People magazine, having decided to try to apply for a job as an undergraduate. Similar to the experience of the News Network reporter team, here, as an assistant reporter, he needs to connect with the interviewees and assist the main reporter in conducting interviews. But the first failure came so suddenly that the neglected idea was still fresh in Pan Pengyuan's memory. At that time, he got a clue about a parent who left home13-year-old boy, serial robberies on campus. Pan Pengyuan naturally pointed the finger at the boy's parents. Within half an hour, he had drafted a report outline with the theme of "Parents failed to fulfill their responsibilities and education was inadequate."
But this outline received an extremely cold response. The truth of the incident is that the boy's father was unfortunately infected with the disease and his mother left her hometown to seek treatment expenses. The family had no choice between educating their children and saving their lives.
Pan Pengyuan said that it was an extremely important moment in his life: for the first time, he felt the break between himself and the real world. Living in a well-off family in the city, he realized that he had been using a fixed belief to imagine what happened in society, even though the protagonists of these events had completely different circumstances and survival logic from his own. In his opinion, it was this kind of thinking that made him arrogant and self-righteous.
Since the root of arrogance lies in lack of understanding, the best way to eliminate arrogance is to calm down and sincerely discover and record. During his internship at People magazine, he followed the main reporter and interviewed not only the famous director Zhang Yimou, but also all kinds of ordinary people. In the process of communicating with many interviewees with different personalities, different thoughts, and different levels, I have not yet overcome this problemCollege students in the "ivory tower" began to seriously examine the society they live in, and began to think about how far they are from the real world.
Capture light and shadow, record soul
“To me, photos don’t mean beauty in a formal sense, but the things being photographed themselves.” Pan Pengyuan said that he prefers to be described as a “recorder” rather than being defined as someone who “just takes good photos.” He once went to the Hoh Xil Nature Reserve in late summer and September and photographed white geese and Tibetan antelopes on the plateau. After a brief conversation with some local volunteers, he found that the volunteers here all had very high academic qualifications, but they still chose to come to a place where snowstorms would suddenly blow this summer, and every time they encountered poachers, these young volunteers were in danger of their lives at any time.
The photos just taken are still saved in the camera, but Pan Pengyuan was not aware of them at the timeLosing interest in the "good looking" scene. In his view, these photos would be meaningless if they could not record the real scenes that took place in Hoh Xil.
Actually, for a photoPan Pengyuan has his own unique understanding of "soul". He once set off from Chengdu and rode for 24 days to Lhasa on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau; he once lived in a Tajik village on the Pamir Plateau for two weeks according to the local lifestyle. As a photographer, he hopes to create a power that can be remembered through his own perspective, and in addition to faithfully recording the stories behind the photos, another way is to capture unique moments. Sometimes such moments are encountered by chance, and sometimes they are waiting to be discovered in a corner of the world. Just like in southern Xinjiang, behind the mosques and local traditional houses are the high-rise buildings of Kashgar New Town. This kind of blending of tradition and modernity, ancient and advanced, showing a contradictory impact is the soul of the photo. He admits that his photography skills may not be as good as those of his peers, but he never skimps on his steps, "go somewhere and spend some time with the people there, so that you can discover something that can only be found on site."

The snow-covered mountain in the photo is the Kunlun Mountains. He firmly believes that on the other side of the mountain, in the distant world, there are still many people and things he doesn't know about, waiting for him to explore. He always said he was a "three-minute hot" person, but he never stopped when it came to exploring distant places. It is his ideal to become an excellent communicator and media person. After climbing over the mountains, what he faces in the camera is the vast sea and sky.
