This reading class invited Professor Zhang Qi, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Institute of Economics and Resource Management of Beijing Normal University, to give a special lecture. The lecture was hosted by Cao Xiaoyong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College.
Professor Zhang Qi’s lecture begins withThe theme is “From Poverty Alleviation to Rural Revitalization—Taking the Road to China-style Agricultural Modernization and Strengthening the Country”. Professor Zhang Qi first summarized the difficult exploration process of poverty reduction in my country from 1921 to 2020, focusing on the precise poverty alleviation policy since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. Professor Zhang Qi combined tree diagrams and distribution maps to objectively display relevant data such as the number of people lifted out of poverty in my country, the popularity of filing and card establishment, and vividly demonstrated a series of poverty alleviation achievements in my country in terms of significantly improving the living standards of the poor, fundamentally changing the backwardness of poor areas, refreshing the spirit of the people who have been lifted out of poverty, significantly improving grassroots governance capabilities in poor areas, and effectively protecting the survival and development rights of groups with special difficulties.
Professor Zhang Qi pointed out that after achieving comprehensive victory in the fight against poverty, our country promptly established, built, consolidated and expanded the long-term mechanism for the results of poverty alleviation, and focused on consolidating and expanding the results of poverty alleviation in poverty-stricken areas and effectively connecting them with rural revitalization. Professor Zhang Qi emphasized that in order to comprehensively promote rural revitalization, we should adhere to the path of a Chinese-style modern agricultural power. In the face of problems such as unbalanced urban and rural development and low agricultural competitiveness, we should strive to achieve and balance the relationship between an agricultural power, a large agricultural country, and a modern power, and continuously enhance my country's comprehensive agricultural productivity, sustainable development capabilities, and the ability to increase farmers' income.
