The lecture was specially invited by Professor Olga Vyacheslavovna Pavlenko, Vice President of the Russian University for the Humanities and a well-known international relations and foreign policy expert, to give a profound and enlightening academic report to the teachers and students present on the topic of "Russian-China Relations in the Context of Russian Diplomacy: Challenges and Prospects".
Pavlenko pointed out that Sino-Russian relations are an epic of cooperation of "mutual respect and joint progress". In 1992, China and Russia "regarded each other as friendly countries", established a "strategic partnership of coordination" in 1996, and then signed the "Treaty of Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation" in 2001. In 2013, it deepened into a comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination, forming the distinctive characteristics of "non-alignment, non-confrontation, and non-targeting of third countries". She believes that how to maintain strategic focus and enhance mutual trust in a complex situation is an urgent issue that both sides need to jointly address. In the exchange session, Professor Pavlenko pointed out that Sino-Russian relations are currently at the best period in history, and students majoring in Russian have broad space for employment and development in related fields of Sino-Russian cooperation. She encouraged students in the Russian Department to lay a solid foundation in language, broaden their horizons, find research directions that interest them, and devote themselves to the study of Sino-Russian relations in the future.This lecture provides teachers and students majoring in Russian with the opportunity to communicate face-to-face with top scholars, broadens academic horizons, deepens understanding of Russian society and culture, and injects new vitality into promoting Sino-Russian cultural exchanges and regional and country studies.
After the lecture, the two parties reached broad consensus on cooperation in areas such as teacher-student exchanges and visits, joint scientific research and academic activities, and curriculum and teaching resource development. Both sides agreed to promote the early translation of consensus into concrete results.
Both parties exchanged souvenirs and visited the Russian Language and Culture Center together.
