This annual meeting is the first time that academic research institutions in China, Portuguese-speaking countries and the Macao SAR hold an annual international academic seminar on Portuguese-speaking countries. The annual meeting, with the theme of dialogue and cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries in the 21st century, discusses the adjustment and reform measures of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries to cope with international challenges. China and Portuguese-speaking countries have a long history of exchanges. Lan Hu, Counselor of the Department of Latin America and the Caribbean of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. Ms. Tanya Romualdo, Ambassador of Cape Verde to China, and Director of the Asian and African Department of the China Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, gave written speeches. Professor Severino Cabral, Chairman of the Institute of China-Asia and Pacific Studies in Brazil, Mr. Jorge Rangel, Chairman of the Institute of International Studies in Macau, and Dong Chenguang, Director of the Liaison Office of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum China-Portugal (Macau) and the Representative of East Timor, respectively delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.
For this annual meeting, the China Portuguese-speaking Countries Research Center invited more than 50 research institutions at home and abroad to serve as joint research units on Portuguese-speaking countries, and also invited more than 80 experts and scholars to serve as joint research experts on Portuguese-speaking countries. This means that the research teams on Portuguese-speaking countries in China and Portuguese-speaking countries are increasingly expanding and improving, which will definitely promote economic and w88 cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
