Professor Zhu is the 2016 Yangtze River Scholar Distinguished Professor of the Ministry of Education, a professor of the Chinese Department of East China Normal University, a doctoral supervisor, and concurrently the executive director of the Chinese Aesthetics Society and the vice president of the Shanghai Aesthetics Society. He has published more than 160 academic papers and more than 10 monographs such as "Chinese Art Philosophy" and "Research on Kant's Aesthetic Thought". Among them, "Chinese Art Philosophy" has been translated into German, Russian and Korean. He has presided over general projects, key projects and major projects of the National Social Science Fund, and won awards such as the Sixth Higher Education Institutions Scientific Research Outstanding Achievements Award and the Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences Award.
Professor Zhu’s Confucius Institute lecture tour has received strong support from the Confucius Institute Headquarters and East China Normal University. This trip included Confucius Institutes in five places including Minsk, Moscow, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, and Novosibirsk. The Confucius Institute at the Russian State University for the Humanities was the second stop of his lecture tour. The topic of Professor Zhu’s lecture is"The Art of Han Portraits", most of the audience are Russian scholars and students. In order to let them better understand the lecture content, Professor Zhu enriched the lecture materials with a large number of pictures and used easy-to-understand language. He introduced the expressive content and artistic charm of Han Dynasty portraits in a simple and easy-to-understand way with pictures and texts.

Professor Zhu explained in detail what Han portraiture is and the content of Han portraiture with the help of rubbings. Depicted in Han portraitsMyths and legends such as "Nuwa patching up the sky", "Chang'e flying to the moon", "Dayu controlling the floods", "Cowherd and Weaver Girl", etc., are also recorded with historical allusions such as "Confucius meets Laozi", "Zhou Gong assists the king", "Two peaches kill three scholars", and there are also scenes that reflect the daily work and life of the ancients. In addition, Teacher Zhu also explained the artistic techniques of Han portraits. Han portraits have unique expression techniques, and their artistic expressiveness shocks us. Among them, metaphors and symbols are highlighted, which has a strong narrative quality, with realistic images, vivid plots and lifelike characters. The narrative has the characteristics of a comic strip, where time and space are vertically and horizontally integrated and complement each other.

Professor Zhu’s lecture made the audience feel the rich and simple historical atmosphere of Chinese Han Dynasty culture. His emotive and detailed explanation made the teachers and students listen with bated breath. After the lecture, the audience actively asked questions and discussed. Through this lecture, Russian scholars, teachers and students broadened their horizons, further contacted and understood the traditional Chinese culture, and realized the superb wisdom of the ancient Chinese people and the profoundness of ancient Chinese art.
