w88 casino News Network (Correspondent Li Siqi)On December 13, 2023, Pascal Lamy, Vice Chairman of the Paris Peace Forum and former Director-General of the World w88 Organization (WTO), visited the Beijing headquarters of the Think Tank on Globalization (CCG) to deliver a speech, and discussed with CCG Chairman Wang Huiyao around the theme of "Challenges facing the global trading system and its impact on world w88 development in 2024 and beyond" to provide suggestions for the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference. At the meeting, Sun Yongfu, CCG senior researcher and former director of the European Department of the Ministry of Commerce, Ji Wenhua, professor at the w88 casino of Law at the w88 casino, and Li Siqi, associate professor at the China World w88 Organization Research Institute at the w88 casino, delivered comments as special guests.

In recent years, economic globalization has faced strong headwinds. As a typical representative of today’s global trading system,The WTO has been criticized by various parties for various reasons. The 13th WTO Ministerial Conference will be held in February 2024, and will focus on the issue of revitalizing multilateral institutions. At the same time, 2024 will usher in the U.S. presidential election, which will have a profound impact on the future world, which is likely to further intensify people's concerns about the WTO's governance capabilities. While leaders around the world are discussing reforming the WTO, what are the prospects for reform? Against the backdrop of tightening w88 policies and geopolitical differences catalyzing opposing w88 blocs, how multilateral institutions can advance the modernization agenda and what role China will play in revitalizing multilateral w88 are urgently needed to be discussed. This dialogue unfolds against this background.

In the guest speech session, Mr. Lamy introduced the role that the EU and China will play in revitalizing multilateral w88. He said that globalization has been in progress and has not been interrupted. Globalization currently faces many challenges, and the process of re-globalization is far from peaceful. Globalization in the past was mainly driven by big countries, but globalization in the future will be driven by everyone. Every country must do something to resolve different opinions and produce results that seek common ground while reserving differences. He believes that despite the difficult environment, do not lose confidence in future investment, China and the EU can make contributions to many global issues such as climate change, coordinate and work together to create more solid conditions.

In the dialogue session,CCG Chairman Wang Huiyao discussed with Mr. Lamy on issues such as climate change, global digital governance, and China’s power in WTO reform. Chairman Wang Huiyao pointed out that China's accession to the WTO has achieved fruitful results in promoting economic globalization, but it has also encountered many headwinds. We need to strengthen the multilateral system. Issues such as climate change, digitalization, and AI are both challenges and opportunities. Faced with some issues that need to be resolved urgently, it is crucial for countries to reach consensus on governance standards through communication and compromise. It is hoped that the WTO can promote consensus in these new areas. Countries such as China, the United States and Europe need to strengthen consultations, and the EU can play a more active role.

In the review session, Associate Professor Li Siqi of our college pointed outI had an in-depth exchange with Mr. Lamy on the issue of collective leadership of developing countries in the WTO reform agenda and the prospects of WTO plurilateral negotiations.
