On March 28, the "Global South" Research Center was inaugurated in Beijing. Zhang Qingwei, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, attended the establishment ceremony and delivered a speech.

Zhang Qingwei said that the establishment and construction of the "Global South" research center is an important measure for China to implement President Xi Jinping's important instructions and support cooperation in the "Global South". The "Global South" should adhere to unity and self-strength, adhere to the development orientation, adhere to openness and win-win, play a more important role in safeguarding international fairness and justice, promote world peace and development, and join hands in the forefront of promoting the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.

The "Global South" research center is constructed by the Development Research Center of the State Council and relies on the China International Development Knowledge Center to carry out its work. The center has a board of directors, composed of heads of authoritative research institutions from representative countries in each region, top experts from the "Global South", and representatives of relevant international and regional institutions to provide support for the center's research and exchanges.
