From my personal experience, the most important thing in telling the Beijing story well through people-to-people diplomacy is to extend oneself to others and see the big from the small, and this is exactly the strength of people-to-people diplomacy.
Tu Xinquan said that as the capital, one of the core functions that Beijing undertakes is to build the country's international exchange center. This is not only Beijing's glorious mission, but also Beijing's inherent advantage. As a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) from the foreign friendly sector, it is my unshirkable responsibility to actively carry out non-governmental diplomacy and public diplomacy. At the same time, I am also a scholar who has long been concerned about international w88 and China’s foreign economic and w88 relations. It is also my job to tell China’s story well, explain China’s propositions, and spread Chinese ideas to the outside world.
The first is to actively promote the country’s development, progress and great achievements. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, we are extremely proud of the unparalleled development and progress that Beijing and China as a whole have achieved. Due to work reasons, I have visited more than 30 countries in the past ten years. It can be said that from an international comparative perspective, I have personally witnessed the rapid progress that Beijing has made. Whether it is economic development, urban construction, environmental protection, or scientific and technological progress, Beijing is in a leading position in the world. For example, foreign countries are very impressed by the development of new energy vehicles in my country and are also very surprised. I often tell them that the reason why our new energy vehicle industry can develop so fast is mainly because we have a group of innovative and adventurous companies. At the same time, we have a very solid industrial foundation. Although some companies have transformed from other industries and crossed over to make cars, relying on Beijing's strong automotive industry, they can quickly develop and deliver a large number of new energy vehicle products with high technical content and quality.
The second is to tell Beijing’s story with more warmth and depth. From my personal experience, the most important thing to carry out people-to-people diplomacy and tell the story of Beijing well is to reach out to others and see the big from the small. This is also the strength of people-to-people diplomacy. I have also submitted an article about the social situation and public opinion on telling Beijing’s green story well, which is to suggest that we should start from green, environmental protection, and the common goals and common vision of everyone in the world, and make the huge efforts, costs, and results achieved by our Beijing government and people to solve the environmental pollution problem in a more vivid form, so that the whole world can empathize with us. I often tell foreign friends that under the leadership of the government, with the active cooperation of enterprises and the enthusiastic participation of citizens, we have basically completely solved the once extremely serious smog problem in just over ten years. Last year, the average concentration of PM2.5 in Beijing dropped to 27 micrograms per cubic meter, and the number of days with good air quality exceeded 80%. This is a miracle in the history of world pollution control.
Third, I hope that everyone will take active action, start from themselves, carry out non-governmental diplomacy, and tell the story of Beijing well. I hope that every citizen can actively participate in it. Beijing citizens are very warm, friendly and generous. Treating every foreign tourist and foreign friend who comes to Beijing is a very beneficial non-governmental diplomatic action. Last year, I also participated in the "Citizen Dialogue Leader" and "Face-to-face Proposal Handling" activities, and communicated with many foreign tourists who came to Beijing. They were all very impressed by Beijing's openness and friendliness.
I am a committee member, and I will be more active in the future, making full use of all opportunities and platforms to write our true Beijing story and tell our wonderful Beijing story.
