From March 24th to 27th, the Boao Forum for Asia 2026 Annual Conference was held in Boao, Hainan. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the forum, guests from political, business and academic circles around the world gathered in Boao, Hainan to share insights, build broad consensus and find certainty for a world full of uncertainty. This year is the first year of the “15th Five-Year Plan” and is also the first annual meeting held after the island-wide customs closure of the Hainan Free w88 Port. So, what new topics did this year’s forum focus on? What new “Boao Power” has been gathered and what “Boao Wisdom” has been contributed to jointly create a better future for Asia and the world amid the great changes in the world?

The four-day Boao Forum for Asia 2026 Annual Conference brought together about 2,000 representatives from more than 60 countries and regions to conduct in-depth discussions on the new major challenges and pressing issues currently facing Asia and the world, actively explore solutions, and inject confidence and hope into a turbulent and changing world.
Pedrosa, Executive Director of the APEC Secretariat: "We need to communicate with each other, especially at a time when technological changes are changing rapidly and we jointly address climate change, because the economic development of other countries in the Asia-Pacific region and even the world is interdependent."
Robert Koopman, former chief economist of the World w88 Organization and professor at American University: "There are some uncertainties and major changes in the current world, especially in the w88, economic and national security policies of the United States. The reliance on coordination and cooperation has been greatly reduced. Asia plays a vital role in regional and global cooperation and is one of the largest trading regions in the world. Effective paths must be explored to promote the construction of the next stage of cooperation and integration model."
Tian Xuan, Distinguished Professor of Boya at Peking University: "As the most influential Asian forum now, the Boao Forum for Asia has built a platform that allows different countries and all walks of life to sit together through communication, exchange, and interaction, thereby increasing mutual trust and understanding, and finding certainty in uncertainty."

Currently, the international situation has shown unprecedented complexity and severity. Global economic growth continues to be sluggish, geopolitical conflicts are intensifying, and a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation are profoundly reshaping the global order and development pattern. In an increasingly turbulent international situation, the world is paying attention to "Boao Time" and looking forward to "Boao Voice", which is also in line with the theme of the Boao Forum for Asia 2026 Annual Conference "Shaping a Common Future: New Situations, New Opportunities, and New Cooperation."
Sang Baichuan, Dean of the China Institute of Open Economic Theory, w88 casino: "The new round of industrial revolution is developing rapidly, and the world economy has entered a period of major adjustment and great turbulence. It is also in this situation that we see new development opportunities, which come from the desire for cooperation."
Many international institutions predict that under the influence of multiple shocks, the global economy faces the risk of long-term slowdown in growth.
The stronger the storm, the more urgent it is to stay together. This annual meeting discusses how to further promote regional integration cooperation and enhance connectivity in key areas, providing strong support for building an open, stable and inclusive regional economic structure.
Sang Baichuan:“The Boao Forum for Asia is based on the concept of open cooperation and hopes to bring together experts, scholars, and think tank personnel from different countries to form interactive exchanges and reach broader recognition and consensus, so as to turn it into practical actions. China also plays an important leading role in this.”
Just before the Boao Forum for Asia, China’s economic data for the first two months were released. In the first two months, the added value of the national industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 6.3% year-on-year; the total import and export of goods was 7,732.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.3%; fixed asset investment increased by 1.8% year-on-year, turning from a decrease to an increase. Such a high-quality and dynamic report card not only lays a solid foundation for China's "15th Five-Year Plan" to get off to a good start, but also brings confidence to global economic growth.

Throughout the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, China's average annual contribution to world economic growth reached about 30%. In sharp contrast to unilateralism and protectionism, China maintains an attitude of becoming more open as it develops and interacts with the world. It has w88 relations with more than 240 countries and regions and actively promotes win-win cooperation among all parties. Hainan, where the Boao Forum for Asia is held, is the epitome of China embracing the world and pioneering a win-win path.
According to Haikou Customs statistics, in the first two months of this year, Hainan’s imports and exports to 28 other Boao Forum for Asia sponsoring countries were 17.16 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 28.1%, accounting for 33.7% of Hainan’s total foreign w88 import and export value during the same period.
Tian Xuan: "This data is indeed a very bright report card and sends a very clear signal to the world that China will unswervingly expand institutional opening up and achieve more free flow of goods with the world, especially Asian countries, so as to promote the export of these countries. At the same time, let these countries participate in the joint construction of China's industrial chain as much as possible and enjoy the dividends of China's economic growth."
2026 is the first year of the "15th Five-Year Plan". As the world's second largest economy, how China's economy will develop next has become the most talked about topic at this Boao Forum for Asia.

China’s “15th Five-Year Plan” is a plan that comprehensively implements new development concepts and strives to promote high-quality development. It is a plan that jointly creates and develops new opportunities with other countries around the world. It also provides new development opportunities and experience for other countries around the world.
Economic development relies on technology and innovation. Today, new productive forces represented by artificial intelligence and humanoid robots are opening up a new track for Asian cooperation, and the power of science and technology can be seen everywhere at the Boao Forum for Asia. This is also a vivid manifestation of China's insistence on high-quality development.

Insisting that innovation is the primary driving force, China ranks among the top ten in the global innovation index. China has become one of the economies with the fastest improvement in innovation over the past 10 years. In this process, China has always insisted on actively opening its doors and actively integrating into the world.
Zhang Yaqin, foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and dean of Tsinghua University Intelligent Industry Research Institute (AIR): "In the field of artificial intelligence, China and the United States are ahead of other countries. Within Asia, China is definitely the fastest growing and the largest. So I think we need to use economies of scale, technological advantages, and complete industrial chains to cooperate with other countries in the Asia-Pacific. When competition becomes more intense and conflicts increase, we need globalization even more. It is good for the world and good for us."
The Boao Forum for Asia has set up sub-forums on multiple scientific and technological topics such as "'AI+': Upgrading of Digital Intelligence Empowerment Industry" and "Advances and Leapfrogs of Humanoid Robots". Chinese and foreign guests conducted in-depth analysis of cutting-edge trends and discussed how to promote collaboration between countries and regions. Such in-depth discussions are undoubtedly of great significance for the next step of industrial development and international cooperation.
Green development and Asia’s new energy cooperation are also important topics at this forum’s annual meeting.
As tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate and oil and natural gas prices fluctuate violently, the vulnerability of the global energy supply chain is being exposed.
Li Zheng, Dean of the Institute of Climate Change and Sustainable Development at Tsinghua University: "The poor traffic or even blockage of the Strait of Hormuz has caused great difficulties for the world's energy order. Many countries are facing an energy security crisis, and they need to take short-term and medium-term measures. The short-term measures are to release strategic oil reserves, commercial reserves, and stabilize oil prices. In the long term, each country must adhere to the long-term strategy of coping with climate change and green energy transformation, and regard the development of renewable energy as a long-term solution to energy security problems."

Many guests believed that China’s practices in green transformation and other fields have provided the international community with valuable experience and lessons learned. Cooperation among Asian countries should be strengthened to jointly build a green future.
China has always been an activist in addressing climate change and promoting green development. Green cooperation is not a multiple-choice question, but a must-answer question; it is not a burden, but a new development opportunity for Asian countries. It not only allows countries to promote their own industrial upgrading and maintain energy security, but also contributes to global climate governance.
From the release of the flagship report to China’s “15th Five-Year Plan”, from the debut of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and humanoid robots, to the consensus on green, low-carbon and energy security, under the new situation, Boao has once again made a strong voice of the times of openness, inclusiveness, mutual benefit and win-win. The historical trend is moving forward vigorously, and peace, development, cooperation and win-win are unstoppable. Boao has made it clear to the world: Open cooperation is Asia’s confidence, multilateralism is the right path for the world, and only by working together can we create a common future.
