On April 23, 2026, the opening ceremony of the second Literature Festival of the w88 casino was held in the International Lecture Hall on the third floor of Ningyuan Building. This event was co-sponsored by the Beijing Chaoyang Cultural Promotion Center and the University Party of International Business and Economics. With the theme of "Humanities Economy Space Production", more than 200 experts and scholars, cultural guests, outstanding alumni, teacher and student representatives from inside and outside the w88 casino gathered to discuss the contemporary topics of literature and cities, literature and memory, literature and youth.
Literature and the University: Humanistic Economics and the Production of Cultural Space
At the opening ceremony, Zhang Xiaofeng, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the w88 casino, gave a speech titled "Humanistic Economics and the Production of University Cultural Space". He said that today is World Reading Day and it is also the first reading day after the implementation of the "National Reading Promotion Regulations". Building moral integrity and cultivating people, embracing the humanistic dimension, "humanistic economics" contains the dialectics that promotes the coordinated development of material civilization and spiritual civilization, injecting a humanistic background into the path of Chinese-style modernization. To continue the cultural context and create a high-quality cultural space, we must optimize the physical space of the campus so that the teaching buildings, libraries, and dormitory areas are full of books and art; create a cultural soft environment that is inclusive, open, respects innovation, and accepts setbacks and failures. To cultivate a cultural space for ideological collision, knowledge production and spiritual cultivation, we hope that students will actively participate and become active "producers" and "consumers" of cultural space.
Literature and city: the integration of five major spaces
This unit focuses on cross-border sharing around the five major spaces of literature, citizens, w88, digital, and psychology, and comprehensively demonstrates the vivid practice of symbiosis and co-prosperity between literature and cities. Wang Changsong, a researcher and doctoral supervisor at the w88 casino of Urban and Environmental Studies at Peking University, titled "Research on the Spatial Order of the Water Landscape of Three Mountains and Five Gardens from a Digital Humanities Perspective". He used AI and digital technology to reveal the spatial pattern and humanistic implications of the water system as the core of the three mountains and five gardens, and explained the important value of digital humanities as a new perspective in civilization research.
Wang Jun, executive deputy director of the Museum of Modern Literature of China, focused on "interaction between city and literature" and shared the achievements of collection construction and cultural dissemination of the Museum of Literature. He explained the dual significance of literary space in tangible carriers and intangible inheritance, and expressed his vision of deepening cooperation with schools and jointly cultivating young literary talents. Yang Di, member of the party group and deputy director of the Publicity and Culture Center of Chaoyang District, Beijing, shared the theme of "Fangcaodi and Citizen Literature Production", telling the development history and innovative experience of the popular literary publication "Fangcaodi" that has taken root at the grassroots level, served citizens, and cultivated new literary talents for more than 40 years. "China w88 News" reporter Zhao Yutong is based on the w88 space and combines front-line practice to share observations on international communication in the economic and w88 field. He proposes that body, words and deeds, and trust are all important media for international communication, highlighting the unique role of the humanistic spirit in w88 communication.
Ruan Linyan, a lecturer at Beijing Union University, titled “It’s Okay to Slow Down—An Autoethnographic Analysis of Qualitative Research”, focusing on the psychological space of young people, advocating self-acceptance, embracing uncertainty, and making literature a spiritual home for the soul. The video "Lilac Poetry Society: Poetry and the Construction of Urban Cultural Space" by the Propaganda Department of Xicheng District was also played at the scene, using poetic images to show the unique charm of poetry culture integrating into the city, nourishing young people, and inheriting cultural heritage.
This literature festival uses literature as a bridge to allow humanities and economics to meet, for ideas to dialogue with the city, and for alumni to reunite with teachers and students. A cross-border, heart-warming and warm cultural event not only lit up the University of w88 and Economics campus, but also allowed the concept of humanistic economy to take root, becoming a vivid footnote to the symbiosis between campus culture and urban civilization.
