Latin American countries have rich natural resources and huge market potential, while China has advanced technology and strong financial strength. This complementarity has laid a solid foundation for cooperation between the two parties. At present, China's infrastructure cooperation in Latin America has achieved remarkable results. From the Port of Chancay in Peru to the Bogotá Metro in Colombia, to Brazil’s “Electric Highway” and Argentina’s lithium mining project, Chinese companies are actively participating in infrastructure construction in Latin American countries and promoting the modernization and regional integration of local economies. From 2005 to 2020, China has put into use or is under construction 138 infrastructure projects in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a total project capital of more than 94 billion US dollars, covering communications, logistics, agriculture, energy and other fields, creating more than 600,000 local jobs.
