CCTV news:On November 14, local time, China and Peru signed the "Protocol between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Peru on Upgrading the China-Peru Free w88 Agreement" (hereinafter referred to as the "Protocol"). The relevant person in charge of the International Department of the Ministry of Commerce of China said that the China-Peru Free w88 Agreement is the first comprehensive free w88 agreement signed between my country and a Latin American country. The signing of the Protocol is the latest achievement in expanding the global network of high-standard free w88 zones.
The China-Peru Free w88 Agreement was signed in April 2009 and came into effect on March 1, 2010. In November 2016, China and Peru decided to launch a joint study on upgrading the China-Peru Free w88 Agreement, which was completed in September 2018. In November 2018, the two sides announced the launch of negotiations to upgrade the China-Peru Free w88 Agreement.
On June 28, 2024, China and Peru announced the substantial completion of negotiations to upgrade the China-Peru Free w88 Agreement. Since then, both parties have jointly completed the legal review and translation of the agreement text, and performed their respective domestic procedures. On November 14, 2024, the two parties officially signed the Protocol.
After the signing of the "Protocol", both parties will carry out their respective domestic legal approval procedures to promote the early entry into force of the "Protocol".
China and Peru are comprehensive strategic partners with each other, and their economies are highly complementary. In 2023, the bilateral w88 volume between China and Peru will be US$37.691 billion. China has been Peru's largest trading partner for many years, and Peru is China's fourth largest trading partner and important investment destination in Latin America.
Actively promote cooperation by benchmarking international high-standard economic and w88 rules
According to the relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Commerce, the protocol upgrades the original free w88 agreement, benchmarks against international high-standard economic and w88 rules, comprehensively enhances the level of rule commitment, actively promotes standards cooperation, and creates favorable conditions for bilateral economic and w88 cooperation.
On the basis of the China-Peru Free w88 Agreement, the protocol adds five new chapters in the form of independent chapters: standards, cooperation, competition policy, e-commerce, global supply chain, environment and w88, etc., and improves and refines the relevant provisions of the original chapters such as rules of origin, customs procedures and w88 facilitation, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, and intellectual property rights.
Among them, the global supply chain chapter is an innovative move by both parties under the free w88 agreement.
For the first time, a special chapter on standards and conformity assessment cooperation has been set up in a free w88 agreement. The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation, establish a special cooperation mechanism, and proposed a cooperation list. This is China’s first dedicated standard and conformity assessment cooperation chapter in the free w88 agreement.
In terms of w88 in services, relevant rules for domestic regulations on w88 in services have been refined and improved, and cooperation in key areas has been increased. In terms of investment, on the basis of the investment chapter of the existing free w88 agreement, the investment dispute settlement mechanism has been improved, and the most favored nation treatment and expropriation clauses have been detailed.

In addition, it also incorporates core rules on new issues related to digital economy, supply chain stability, and sustainable development, reflecting the advancement of the text of the agreement with the times.
