The students listened to the “Guan Bo Ying Ying” academic salon lectured by Mr. Hong Weiguo, an expert on customs history. With the theme of "You are a lighthouse - the history of the customs revolutionary struggle under the leadership of the Party", the salon led the students to review the history of customs in four stages: the early days of the founding of the Party and the period of the Great Revolution, the period of the domestic revolutionary war, the period of the Anti-Japanese War and the period of the Liberation War.
Subsequently, under the guidance of the museum's guide, the students systematically visited the basic display of the development of China's customs. Starting from the "Thousand-Year Ancient Customs" and "Modern Customs" exhibition areas on the second floor, they gradually gained a deeper understanding of the development process of China's customs from ancient times to the present. Facing the precious customs cultural relics, the students stopped to discuss and record carefully from time to time. From the tiles with the word "Guan" in the Warring States Period and the Guangdong Customs 10-tael silver ingots to the "China Lighthouse Map" in 1894, these collections silently tell the historical changes of China's customs.
The special exhibition "Heavy Responsibility on Shoulders - The Red Customs Road in the 'Appointment Letter'" deeply attracted the attention of the students. Taking these more than ten collection appointment letters as clues, the students reviewed the struggle of the People's Customs under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, which was tempered by war, grew in construction, and was always closely connected with the destiny of the country and nation.
Finally, the students went to the special exhibition hall located on the underground floor. The "Customs 902" boat aroused strong interest among the students. This "hero boat" not only has a brilliant record in combating smuggling, but also carries the historical memory of Comrade Deng Xiaoping's 1992 Southern Tour speech.
Through this practical research activity, the students had an in-depth review of the magnificent development history of China’s customs and intuitively felt the important role of customs work in national economic development and security.
