"A paper full of absurd words, a handful of bitter tears. It is said that the author is crazy, who can understand its meaning?" "A Dream of Red Mansions" is listed as one of the four classic Chinese classics and is a treasure of Chinese classical literature. In order to let students have an in-depth understanding of this literary masterpiece, Professor Zhou Ling used relaxed and easy-to-understand language to bring students a wonderful journey of red learning.

At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Zhou Ling introduced the status and influence of "A Dream of Red Mansions" in the history of Chinese literature, and introduced the concept of redology. Talking about some scholars' suspicion that "Dream of Red Mansions" was not written by Cao Xueqin, Professor Zhou Ling listed three pieces of evidence that he believes the author is Cao Xueqin: first, writing novels was not a glorious thing at the time, so the author was unwilling to leave his name; second, there are clues in various editions and manuscripts; third, this fact is recorded in book reviews and prefaces written by others.

The authorship of the last forty chapters of "Dream of Red Mansions" is still controversial in academic circles. Professor Zhou Ling analyzed the food, character portrayal, character psychology, character relationships, and echoes before and after, and put forward the view that the last forty chapters were indeed not written by Cao Xueqin, and reminded everyone that we should respect the original work and pay attention to the sequel, but we must not treat the sequel as the original work. He also analyzed the author's intention in writing "A Dream of Red Mansions" and believed that Cao Xueqin's original intention was not to promote anti-feudalism or strive for autonomy in love, but his purpose was still to "write about people". Professor Zhou believes that "Dream of Red Mansions" reflects the author's own pursuit, and only by understanding the author can we accurately understand the purpose of the novel.

Finally, Professor Zhou Ling summarized this lecture. "Dream of Red Mansions" can easily be misunderstood, and readers need to read the original work carefully. Professor Zhou believes that Cao Xueqin wrote "Dream of Red Mansions" after "waking up from a dream" in the hope that readers would not only enter the dream, but also come out of the dream, and gain their own insights through the author's life experience.

During the communication session, students actively asked questions and the atmosphere was lively. Some students raised the wonderful question of "How to view the historical value of "A Dream of Red Mansions" from the perspective of clothing. Professor Zhou Ling believed that "A Dream of Red Mansions" is a shortcut to the restoration of traditional Chinese clothing and an important step in the renaissance of Chinese clothing culture.

Through Professor Zhou Ling’s wonderful explanation, the students gained a deeper understanding of the Chinese classical literature "A Dream of Red Mansions" and traditional Chinese culture. I hope that students can take this opportunity to cherish traditional Chinese culture more and continue to pass it on and carry it forward.
