Vice Dean Xing Xiaoqiang first outlined the academic research characteristics of Professor Chen Jin, and then Dean Chen Deqiu expressed his welcome and gratitude to Professor Chen Jin on behalf of the college, and introduced Professor Chen Jin and his academic achievements to the teachers and students attending the lecture. Professor Chen Jin is the winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and was selected into the National Science Foundation"Hundreds of Talents Project", Distinguished Professor of "Changjiang Scholars" of the Ministry of Education, Founding Editor-in-Chief of the academic journal "Int. J. of Innovation Studies", Chief Editor-in-Chief of "Int. J. of Knowledge Management Studies", and Executive Editor-in-Chief of "Tsinghua Management Review". He is committed to research on scientific and technological innovation ideas, policy and management of scientific and technological innovation in the new era, actively exploring technological innovation management theories with Chinese characteristics, and has in-depth research on independent innovation, comprehensive innovation, open innovation, collaborative innovation, integrated innovation, meaningful innovation, etc.
This lecture focuses on"Innovation-driven development and the rise of innovative science" unfolded. Professor Chen first introduced the important discussion on innovative development in the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, pointing out that the "comprehensive innovation with scientific and technological innovation as the core" proposed in the report expanded the understanding of the connotation of innovation, has distinctive characteristics and great creativity, and is an important guarantee for China to implement the innovation-driven development strategy and realize Chinese-style modernization. Afterwards, Professor Chen systematically sorted out the context of innovation research from three stages: "Schumpeterian Paradigm", "Neo-Schumpeterian Innovation Paradigm" and "Post-Schumpeterian Innovation Paradigm", and clearly demonstrated the evolution process of innovation focus from innovation system to innovation policy to innovation commons, and the evolution of innovation subjects from entrepreneurs to scientists to makers and the public. In the second half of the lecture, Professor Chen combined traditional innovative thinking, and on the basis of absorbing elements of Eastern philosophy and traditional Chinese culture, proposed innovative forms with Chinese characteristics such as "integrated innovation" and "meaningful innovation", breaking through the atomistic thinking paradigm of the traditional innovation paradigm, and raising innovative thinking to the "humanistic level" and even the "philosophical level", promoting the theoretical boundaries of innovation research to continuously expand into new fields. At the end of the report, Professor Chen proposed that "innovation science" can be constructed as an independent emerging discipline based on the existing theoretical foundation and scientific paradigm of innovation research, emphasizing that the cultivation of innovative talents should integrate different disciplines.
Finally, Vice President Xing Xiaoqiang gave a brief summary of Professor Chen Jin’s lecture, and encouraged the students present to be familiar with the theoretical context, but also to be rooted in innovation management practice, especially the practice of Chinese enterprises, and strive to do original research.
