Professor Hu Yuhong is a Yangtze Scholar Distinguished Professor of the Ministry of Education, a professor and doctoral supervisor at the w88 casino of Law of East China University of Political Science and Law, editor-in-chief of "Law", dean of the Institute of Human Rights, and executive director of the Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law Research Center. He also serves as vice president of the Jurisprudence Research Society of the China Law Society, legal adviser to the Political and Legal Affairs Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, and other academic positions. He has published and edited more than 30 textbooks and monographs, published more than 150 papers in "Chinese Social Sciences", "Legal Studies", "Chinese Law" and other publications. He has presided over more than 10 major and key projects of the National Social Science Fund at the provincial and ministerial level or above. His achievements have been twice selected into the National Philosophy and Social Sciences Achievements Library, and he has won many scientific research achievement awards at the provincial and ministerial level or above.

First of all, Professor Hu Yuhong elaborated on the characteristics of “research” itself. Professor Hu Yuhong pointed out that, first, "research" is a way to obtain knowledge; second, research means a systematic method; in addition, Professor Hu Yuhong also emphasized that the goal of research is "to obtain new and reliable knowledge."

Next, Professor Hu Yuhong pointed out that to conduct legal research, one needs to master the basic presuppositions of legal research. The basic presuppositions of legal research include macro presuppositions, meso presuppositions and micro presuppositions. Among them, the macro-presuppositions of legal research mainly include that humans are dignified beings, humans are rational animals, humans have a self-interested nature, and humans have unique endowments. When introducing the Meso-level presuppositions of legal research, Professor Hu Yuhong took the social contract theory as an example and explained how the social contract theory, as a Meso-level presupposition, became the theoretical premise of the theory of people's sovereignty, political consent and revolutionary resistance. When introducing the micro-presuppositions of legal research, Professor Hu Yuhong cited the three basic presuppositions of "infinity of desire", "scarcity of resources" and "equality of abilities" used by Hobbes when demonstrating his view that "the state of nature is a state of war".

Immediately, Professor Hu Yuhong explained to teachers and students the two methodological categories of individualistic methodology and holistic methodology in legal research. Among them, the individualistic methodology is a method system for studying subject issues based on an individual's perspective. It takes the individual as the basis for analyzing problems and displays the basic context of social development through the analysis of personal behavior, motivations, purposes, preferences, etc. The holism methodology is a method system that uses the whole as the basis of research and explains the basic stance and basic content of the subject through the analysis of group actions.

In addition, Professor Hu Yuhong also suggested that teachers and students try the "human model" legal research program. "Human model" refers to the basic form of deconstructing human behavior in a specific field by summarizing the basic characteristics of human beings. Professor Hu Yuhong pointed out that the study of human model generally starts from three aspects: the first is the human nature element, that is, the assumption of human nature; the second is the purpose element, which refers to the purpose of an individual's behavior, including desires, motivations, memories and associations, etc.; the third is social elements, mainly related social environmental conditions, such as material facilities, information, social systems, laws and order, etc.

Finally, Professor Hu Yuhong also explained specific methods for teachers and students to conduct scientific research activities from four aspects: necessary qualities, reading methods, material preparation and basic abilities. Professor Hu Yuhong’s profound academic foundation, broad academic vision, and rigorous academic thinking inspired active thinking among teachers and students at the scene. Professor Hu then gave detailed answers to the questions raised by the teachers and students present, and all the students present felt that they benefited a lot. At the end of the lecture, the host, Associate Professor Yang Bei, made a concluding speech and once again thanked Professor Hu Yuhong for taking the time out of his busy schedule to bring a wonderful academic feast to the teachers and students of the Law w88 casino. This lecture ended successfully with warm applause from teachers and students.
