This reminds me that when I was an undergraduate, I also studied for two degrees, but at that time there were very few people who studied for a second degree. This situation was not very common at that time. Now due to the pressure of competition, this situation is quite common these years.
Moderator: In that environment at that time, you were working hard on your own to put pressure on yourself and study hard. You just mentioned that we have done a lot of work in internationalization. When our students go abroad, what are some of the opinions, reflections, and evaluations of some international schools or related institutions on our students?
Shi Jingxia: Generally speaking, our students are employed or further educated. From the current point of view, it should be said that they still have a relatively good advantage. We don’t recruit many undergraduate students, maybe every year90About one-third of our students go abroad for further study after undergraduate graduation, that is, they continue to study for a master's degree. Some may have entered another law firm. After working in another law firm for two years, they have accumulated a certain amount of work experience, and then apply to study abroad. We have a lot of students in this regard. Some of our students, for example, after graduation, or have obtained an undergraduate degree at the University of International w88 and Economics, and then a master's degree in law abroad. Of course, we also have some students who studied law as an undergraduate and studied business as a master's degree. This is also the case with our students.
In recent years, we have also listened extensively to the opinions of some employment units with a relatively large number of students. Shi Jingxia: The reason for this statement is that in recent years, relevant institutions have released employment situation reports for college students every year. The law major, the undergraduate major, is unfortunately listed as a red-light major. There is a saying that it is difficult for law majors to find employment. However, I think it should be looked at from many aspects. There are actually many reasons for this difficulty in employment. For example, the quality and quantity of training for law students, in terms of quantity, is the supply exceeding demand, and in terms of quality, is it true that after several years of training, they can actually meet the employer's requirements. Another part is my observation, and there are also some subjective factors of some students. For example, some students may be slow to respond and have not accumulated enough capital for themselves before. When it comes to finding a job, I have not done this or that. This is one aspect. In addition, there are some, for example, students are more likely to hope to stay in big cities, especially places like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. In fact, from a national perspective, many places are in urgent need of legal talents, but many students may not be willing to go because China's regional differences are still very obvious. There are still differences in the allocation of various resources, which makes employment difficult. I think we need to observe it from multiple angles and multiple factors. But we currently have600Many law schools, in terms of quantity, have experienced a spurt of expansion in the past ten years or so. This also brings some difficulties to legal employment. Because there are more people, including academic qualifications, the academic qualifications in the legal field are also increasing. For example, at that time, it was normal to have an undergraduate degree. That is to say, everyone thought that this undergraduate degree was enough and it was already good. That is, we currently have seven majors, including international law, civil and commercial law, economic law, procedural law, constitutional law, administrative law, jurisprudence, and criminal law. The other type is called professional master's degree, referred to as professional master's degree for short. Their training goals are more practical from a conceptual point of view, and they are directly engaged in more practical legal work. Our area is divided into two categories of students. The first category is students who are undergraduates and study law, so ours is called Master of Laws. As I mentioned just now, our Master of Laws is a combination of law and finance. This is one group. From the perspective of coursework, students in this group have a harder time because they have to learn legal knowledge and further develop this legal knowledge. , they also need to learn financial knowledge, but it is more difficult for them to find jobs. Because they have the knowledge of these two majors, our law masters actually have good employment, because in principle, the scores for law masters are higher than those for law masters.
