Voice of Huiyuan:First of all, congratulations to both of you for winning the first prize in the Jingwei Cup for your project. Our interview today is mainly about your project. How did the two of you come up with the idea of ​​a software store like Svit? What considerations were used to design it?

Du Mengxi:I think from my personal perspective as the captain, it was the first time for the six of us to establish a scientific research project last year9In March, the theme of the scientific research project we did was a survey report on the current situation of China's genuine software consumers. When we were doing this, we interviewed many teachers, classmates, and all kinds of people. After the interview, our view is that the most serious problem with domestic consumption is that first of all, people don’t know where to buy genuine software, and secondly, the price is extremely expensive. These two points basically affect the entire consumer demand for software. Later, when we heard about this problem and heard about the establishment of a scientific research project to create a Challenge Cup, we asked if we could do an entrepreneurial project and how to solve the problem of consumer demand based on these two points and create a Challenge Cup. Unfortunately, the Challenge Cup failed because the teacher did not approve of our project. We later took a break and made adjustments. After all, I participated in the Jingwei Cup in my first year. I am familiar with the Jingwei Cup and know what the general process is. I feel that the Jingwei Cup is still a highly recognized competition. In this way, the six of us continued the previous process, hoping to make a platform-based thing to launch, and made such a software based on this idea.

Voice of Huiyuan:Judging from your presentation at the time, you targeted a very broad audience, including white-collar workers, software designers, and students, including many ordinary users and professional users. The needs of these two groups of people are very wide, and ordinary users and professional users have different needs. How do you cover such a large range?

Kelly Chen:When we preach, we mainly divide our products into three categories. Du Mengxi:I personally think that from the perspective of my purpose of starting a business, there are several points. Compared with current e-commerce platforms, e-commerce is too complicated. Voice of Huiyuan:I still remember the captain mentioned something during the lecture, hoping that our generation will become a generation that grows up using genuine software. In fact, the issue of intellectual property rights covers a very wide range. At present, some mainstream software stores, including some online stores, are expanding their business areas. We can boldly imagine that after a few years, for example, after Sivit has reached a certain scale and has become a relatively successful model, have you ever considered continuing to develop beyond the legitimate software aspect?

Du Mengxi:We have thought about this, but of course we did not show it during the defense that day. The first thing we want to do is to have a cross-border joint collaboration, which is a popular way now, using two completely different things to jointly create such a thing. The third point is that on the basis of intellectual property protection, we hope to cooperate with law firms and consumer associations to jointly purify the market. That is, I proposed such a project, and I had a group of buddies and buddies to work on this project together, but not many of them actually went big. The reason is that college student entrepreneurship is limited by their own conditions, and many projects cannot be completed from the beginning. In fact, we have seen that many online startups, including some teams, finally chose the idea of ​​​​packaging and selling their businesses. I wonder what you two think about it? If after five years, Svit reaches a certain scale, will it seek to sell itself to a larger company to seek greater development of the project, or will it prefer to keep it as its own business?

Du Mengxi:I think it is quite far away, but my personal view on this is that from our own point of view, when college students start entrepreneurship, there must be various problems in the actual situation. The most obvious one is that the sources of human connections and funds are not very certain. And in terms of connections, if you have connections to make products or do something, your ability to mobilize the resources of the entire society will be stronger. College students do need a lot of potential to start a business. The most important thing for college students to start a business is whether you dare to do something when you are young and implement it. This is very important. I think many projects are good, but if you really implement them, are you willing to spend time and money on them? I personally feel that our team has done a relatively good job in this regard. We have been working on it for at least a year. It is really important that everyone is willing to spend their own money to do such a thing.

For such a project, I personally think it would be best if it persists. Not long ago, I saw Minister of Education Yuan Guiren said at a conference on college student entrepreneurship that the country now encourages college students to appropriately choose a state equivalent to taking a leave of absence to start their own entrepreneurial projects. He encourages doing it appropriately, if you think you can do well. And I can't guarantee that our team is doing this, or I would like to do this, and the person who takes over it will continue to do this.

Voice of Huiyuan:Then let’s talk about a more realistic topic. Many students actually have such a passion or have such an idea. I want to start a business. At least I want to give it a try and try to start a business. However, a very important question that troubles many students is how to choose one of my projects. A problem that many students have now is that they have a lot of passion but nowhere to express it. After you two have experienced such a relatively successful entrepreneurial experience, can you give us some advice on project selection?

Kelly Chen:I personally think that in our team at Sivit, the captain is a very core figure. As far as my personal opinion is concerned, the captain has his own idea of ​​selling software at Siwei, and it was he who came up with the platform. Several of our other team members are core members, but our core meaning is that we can supplement things that the captain has not thought of. I think this is very important. It does not necessarily mean that everyone has a project or an idea. There is a very bright idea among a group of people. Others can do their best to form a very strong team. I think this is also very important.

Voice of Huiyuan:It can be seen that your team is a very cohesive team. The core of this team is for the captain. Such a team has gone through such a long entrepreneurial period and has also experienced failures like the Challenge Cup. So how do you keep such a team around you?

Du Mengxi:I think the most important thing is interest, the character of the team members, and the sustainability of the project. These three points are very important. Interest, everyone is interested in this aspect, it does not necessarily mean that you are passionate about it. Because when working on a project, many team members will have their own ideas, which will cause a deviation for a project like yours. However, as long as everyone maintains a basic interest and persists for a long time, results will be easily achieved. The second point is that the team understands each other, and everyone can raise and communicate with each other if they have problems. This is something that takes time to work on over the long term. Our classmates have not known each other for more than a year or two. We have known each other since our freshman year. I think this long-term running-in will have a great effect. Regarding the project you just mentioned, what is more important is that you choose a project that you know more about, and you also believe that it has market potential or something that can make progress. It is valuable to insist that your world view is correct and persist in it. Of course, it cannot be said that you are stubbornly stuck in your own ideas. It is important to be exposed to different viewpoints and test your feasibility. This depends on your personal accumulation. Starting a business is about doing something you are familiar with or something you know a lot about. I have good friends who are also working on entrepreneurial projects, but when they asked me to help read the planning documents they had written, I felt that what they were doing was indeed feasible and there was a market. However, they did not know much about the market, because the market already existed. It is difficult for you as a start-up to defeat something that has become a giant or has industry influence. I feel that this kind of entrepreneurship is not practical for me personally and for college students to start a business. I hope it was Lei Jun or Ma Huateng who said that true innovation does not mean that you do something that others cannot do, but that you do something that others have done but failed to do successfully, or that you do something that others cannot do. I think it is very difficult for college students to do things that cannot be done in the second point. But how we take things that others have failed to do and how we make them work in our own ways is the basic point of starting a business.
