【"Roof" Autobiography】"Eaves”is an APP that solves the housing problem for young people. It uses Internet services and Internet financial tools to provide white-collar workers and college students in first-tier cities with affordable and affordable experience in the best lightly decorated apartment products and standardized housekeeping services. Voice of Huiyuan: We all know that Rooftop APP is an APP that helps young people rent houses. What was the original motivation that made you think of starting a project in this direction?
Zhang Ziang: In real life, for example, I have seniors and senior sisters, and I encountered such a problem when I helped my friends rent a house. For some services provided by the agency, I felt that their charges were very unreasonable. There are also unsuitable roommates I met during the rental process. The seniors and seniors are in the stage of graduation and they have to find jobs and houses, and they encounter many problems. And if you want to start a business, you must find a place with a rigid demand. The demand is relatively large, and renting a house is a very rigid demand for young white-collar workers or newly graduated college students. After some research, we felt that this thing could be done and we could do it better, so we chose this direction.
Voice of Huiyuan: EavesAPP is a mobile application. What advantages does it have compared with physical stores or traditional web rental agencies?
Luan Huiru: We say that traditional intermediaries mainly provide information services. Providing information services involves intermediary fees, and it also faces two major problems: individual housing resources are uneven and services are not very complete. Because the physical store is opened offline, there is a certain rental cost. Therefore, by moving the entire rental process from offline operations to online operations, Roof can greatly control costs and reduce agency fees. We actually have zero agency fees.
Voice of Huiyuan: So where do your profits come from?
Luan Huiru: Our profits come from two aspects. On the one hand, it is the income obtained from bargaining with the landlord, and on the other hand, because we will have housing stewards in the future to provide continuous services for your subsequent stay, so part of the profit source comes from service fees.
The process of entrepreneurship: realizing more possibilities in life

Voice of Huiyuan: We all know that college student entrepreneurship is a particularly hot topic now. Competitions like the Jingwei Cup are specifically designed to help and select outstanding entrepreneurial teams. So what is your attitude towards college students’ entrepreneurship?
Zhang Ziang: We believe that entrepreneurship for college students is something that requires the courage to try. If you don’t try, you will definitely not succeed, but it does not necessarily mean that you are a college student who starts a business in pursuit of success. In the process of starting a business as a college student, you get to know a group of people who share common aspirations and ideals. Maybe the project is not successful, but you get to know such a group of people. If you want to do something in the future, you can think of me. I have a group of people. I can call them together and say that this project is better and everyone can work together. This is a more meaningful thing than starting a business itself.
Huiyuan Voice: When many students think about starting a business, they always worry about whether starting a business will affect their grades, make them very tired, and affect their normal life. What is your experience about this?
Luan Huiru: I think this is actually a matter of personal choice. The four years of college are a process of deciding your direction. In this process, you may choose to continue to be a top student, go into the research field, you may choose to have more social activities, or you may choose to start a business. I think this group of people who choose to start a business will have a relatively clear goal, and they may start from this aspect in the future. And I think the process of starting a business is not about what kind of results I want to achieve, but in this process, you will get to know different people, experience their different experiences, and you may experience the different lives of many people, so I think this is more important.
Voice of Huiyuan: Will you two continue to use Roof APP as your career in the future? Even after you graduate from senior year, will you still stick to it?
Zhang Ziang: It depends on the progress of the project. The current progress of the project is quite smooth. However, in the field of Internet finance, the project itself is relatively expensive and requires support from all aspects. Our current team is relatively young. Although we have received a lot of support now, our project still needs greater support, so it is not clear whether this matter can continue. But if we can, we will definitely stick to it.
Luan Huiru: Let me add one more point. The cost in the early stage is mainly project development, which has been completed because our APP is already on Apple It is available in Store and can be downloaded now. The later stage may be relatively smooth, and we will keep doing it. However, we may not have a clear plan and clear goals to what extent we will achieve it or what it will look like, but we still hope to develop in a good direction.
Team spirit in entrepreneurship: trust and honesty

Voice of Huiyuan: I have attended some lectures on entrepreneurship before, and many people mentioned that the most difficult thing for college students to start a business is the issue of start-up capital. Where did the initial start-up capital for Rooftop APP come from?
Zhang Ziang: This is the venture capital that our senior, who has some experience in the industry, took a project to get.
Luan Huiru: Yes, it is equivalent to angel investment. With such a sum of money, it is easier to start a project.
Huiyuan Voice: So when doing entrepreneurial projects, it is still very important to find teammates. So how did your team form at that time?
Luan Huiru: That’s right. We have participated in events together before. During the process of participating in the event, I learned that maybe everyone has some entrepreneurial experience before and is more enthusiastic or passionate about this path, so I thought we could do something together. At that time, I happened to have such a project in hand and wanted to continue to do it well, so we formed a team.
Huiyuan Voice: When looking for teammates, what kind of talents do you think should be found who are suitable for starting a business project together? Because after all, it will encounter many difficulties, and some people may give up halfway. What kind of people do you think are most needed?
Zhang Ziang: At this stage, we mainly look at character. Starting a business is very difficult. In the early stages, it will definitely not be smooth sailing, and you will definitely encounter many difficulties. What I mean by character is that, for example, he will give up when encountering some difficulties, or he will betray his teammates in the face of sudden benefits. First of all, the first important point is that this person is good and can do it. The second point is that this person is extremely capable, and what happens next. The same is true within our team. Our people are all very good, our personal relationships are very good, we are very harmonious, and we trust each other quite a lot. Only a team that trusts each other can do something very frankly, and there will be no problems within the team. Only in this way can external problems be solved unanimously. We think the most important thing is to look at a person’s character.
Luan Huiru: I think the process of starting a business is different from when you participate in subject competitions or other competitions. You may not necessarily look for people with very strong abilities and particularly good professional achievements. I mainly choose people from two aspects. On the one hand, it is responsible and will not give up. Secondly, he has a very high sense of recognition for your project and the prospects of the entire project. We can work together to do this and make it bigger and further.
Voice of Huiyuan: What do your parents think of you starting a business during your college career? Do they support, oppose, or just have fun? If it works, support it; if it doesn't work, forget it.
Zhang Ziang: Personally, my family doesn’t actually know what I’m doing, but their attitude toward me is quite supportive, but they often emphasize an issue and don’t affect my studies. When you call me every week, you will tell me whether you are a little busy recently, don't affect your studies, go to bed early every day, and so on. They didn't ask specifically what you were doing. Sometimes they did, but when you first started talking, they would just say what you were doing, which was a bit hard to understand. There is still relatively little communication, but they are quite supportive of what I do.
Luan Huiru: I think you still have to be brave enough to try something in four years of college. What my parents often tell me is that in the next few decades, when you look back on these four years, as long as you feel that you have no regrets and it was worth it. So I feel that what I am doing now is worthwhile. Although I don’t know how long the entrepreneurial journey will take, or whether it is a valuable thing, but I know that if I don’t do it now, I will definitely regret it later.
