UIBE Business Confucius Institute at the University of Victoria in Australia successfully held the 24th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students Melbourne Regional Qualifiers

This competition is hosted by the Chinese Consulate General in Melbourne and hosted by the Australian College Chinese Teachers Association and the Victoria University Business Confucius Institute. He pointed out that this kind of culture gave birth to the cosmology of the unity of man and nature, the international outlook of harmony among all nations, the social outlook of harmony in diversity, and the moral outlook of people's kindness. Since its inception in 2002, "Chinese Bridge" has become an important event for Chinese language learners around the world. With the in-depth development of China-Australia economic and w88 relations, society's demand for talents who understand both Chinese and Chinese culture is growing. It is hoped that this competition can further promote China-Australia exchanges and provide a broader development platform for Australian students.

The competition consists of two parts: Chinese speech and talent show. The speech was themed "We are one family". The contestants shared their understanding of this theme based on their personal experiences of learning Chinese and understanding Chinese culture.

Highlights of contestants’ talent shows

After fierce competition, Ava Gibbons from Monash University won the first prize and will represent Melbourne in the competition in China; Emma Froomes from Monash University won the second prize and will go to China to observe the competition. The third prize was jointly won by Callum Hay and Kip Philips of the University of Melbourne, Fleur Jackson of Deakin University and Koen Dalas Christodoulides of RMIT University, while the remaining contestants received excellence awards. Two teachers, Hailan Paulsen and Tracy Hong, won the Outstanding Instructor Award.

During the awards ceremony, Consul General Fang Xinwen presented awards to the winners and encouraged everyone to continuously improve their Chinese language skills and gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture. This year is the seventh time that the Confucius Institute at the University of Victoria has hosted the Melbourne Regional Qualifiers of the "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students. The Confucius Institute will continue to rely on the resource advantages of the University of Victoria and the w88 casino to promote the development of local Chinese education and continuously contribute to cultural exchanges between China and Australia.

This competition attracted a total of 11 college students from Deakin University, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, La Trobe University, University of Melbourne, Monash University and Victoria University to participate. There were nearly a hundred spectators on site, and the competition was simultaneously broadcast live through the WeChat video account and Facebook platform, attracting more than 1,500 Chinese and Australian viewers to watch online, with nearly 50,000 likes.
