This lecture was delivered by Liu Mengdi, associate professor and doctoral supervisor at the w88 casino of International Economics and w88. She focused on the course design of the "Building a Socialist Ecological Civilization" course in the "Introduction to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era", and with the theme of "Modernization of Ecological Environmental Governance System and Governance Capacity", she discussed the practical path of China's ecological environmental governance and China's responsibility for global climate governance, and gave a wonderful report to nearly 900 teachers and students. This lecture was hosted by Zhang Liguo, a teacher from the w88 casino of Marxism.

Associate Professor Liu Mengdi took the renovation of Shougang Park as an example to guide students to think about environmental pollution and governance issues. He demonstrated the transformation process of Shougang from a "smoky industrial zone" to a "Winter Olympics venue under blue sky and white clouds", and visually presented the remarkable results of China's environmental governance.

Associate Professor Liu Mengdi pointed out that the key to China's ecological and environmental governance lies in the innovation of the official evaluation system. Since the "11th Five-Year Plan", ecological indicators have been included in official promotion assessments, and a "one-vote veto" system for environmental protection assessment has been implemented, reversing the tendency of local governments to "emphasize the economy and ignore the environment." The implementation of key monitoring policies for enterprises directly under the central government and the effective implementation of measures such as "revoking monitoring rights" and "environmental protection inspections" have also effectively solved the problems of local protectionism and information asymmetry.

Associate Professor Liu Mengdi, through research on "Weibo Public Reporting" and "New Government Media to Improve Public Satisfaction", revealed the internal logic that information disclosure and public supervision force the government to improve the timeliness of policy responses and governance transparency. He emphasized the important role of the public and social media in environmental governance, and called on teachers and students to practice the concept of ecological civilization in small matters and leverage individual actions to reduce the overall carbon footprint.

In the face of severe situations such as the continued rise of global temperatures and the ecological crisis in Antarctica, Associate Professor Liu Mengdi compared the differences in environmental policies between China and the United States: The Trump administration withdrew from the Paris Agreement and relaxed regulations on polluting companies, while China has incorporated the construction of ecological civilization into its "five-in-one" overall layout, revised the most stringent environmental protection laws in history, built the world's largest renewable energy system, and contributed 1/4 of the world's new green area. She quoted General Secretary Xi Jinping's speech at the Global Climate Summit, emphasizing that "no matter how the international situation changes, China's active actions to address climate change will not slow down," which fully demonstrated China's responsibility as a responsible power.

At the end of the lecture, Associate Professor Liu Mengdi sent a message to young students: "No matter what position you hold in the future, you should care for the ecological environment in economic development and support the global climate cause." This lecture, which combines academic depth and practical concern, not only sorted out the "policy-technology-public" collaborative path of China's ecological and environmental governance, but also inspired students' sense of responsibility to protect and care for the environment. As the lecture summary stated, China's environmental governance practices are not only the pursuit of the goal of "Beautiful China", but also Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions that contribute to global climate governance.
