Professor Wang Zhimin gave a speech
This salon is hosted by Professor Qian Yuanqiang from the Governmental Research Center of Peking University. Professor Qian started from two questions and led to the topic of discussion in this salon. At the beginning of his speech, Professor Wang Zhimin talked about his experience studying at Guanguan University and was happy to see his classmates and fellow students whom he had not seen for a long time. Professor Wang Zhimin first analyzed the three levels of China’s opening up, pointing out that the rapid development of the western region in the past decade has provided objective conditions for the proposal of the “One Belt, One Road” strategy. From the perspective of international politics, the center of the world is undergoing a process of shifting from the Pacific to the Indian Ocean. The future game in the Indian Ocean also forces us to respond. Along with China's rapid economic growth, problems such as overcapacity and excessive foreign exchange reserves also require China to release more energy outwards and play an important role in more international affairs.

Professor Wang Zhimin emphasized that we should regard the “Belt and Road” as an economic issue. In the game between a rising China and a conservative United States, all countries are taking various measures to deal with the impact of this game and gain inspiration for national development strategic choices. The "Belt and Road" strategy faces severe challenges in many fields such as economy, politics, culture, etc., and it also carries China's hope for future development. Therefore, we should not act too hastily, but should take a long-term view, do a good job in top-level design, and proceed steadily and gradually. The development situation of the multiple routes of the "One Belt and One Road" is complex, and there are various potential threats and risks on each route. In this regard, our country has put forward guiding development concepts such as "five connections and three commonalities", and we must strengthen in-depth research on this strategy.

They also put forward many suggestions on this, and pointed out that the “Belt and Road” is actually very close to us, and everyone can participate in this strategy and give full play to their role.
