Zhu Xiaoping, whose ancestral home is Zhaoyuan, Shandong, was born in Beijing. In 1975, he began to publish works in "Poetry Magazine" and "Beijing Literature and Art" (the predecessor of "Beijing Literature"). Started working on newspaper literary supplements in 1984.
