In order to learn from General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important exposition on the innovation-driven development strategy and cultivate the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit of our graduate students, October 22 afternoon, the Graduate Affairs Department of the Party Committee specially invited Secretary Wang Ling of the Party Committee of the w88 casino to give a special report on innovation and entrepreneurship to the new graduate students at the Hongtian Gymnasium. The report meeting was chaired by Professor Lian Si, Director of the Postgraduate Affairs Department of the Party Committee.
Secretary Wang Ling’s special report interpreted the country’s innovation-driven development strategy through three levels, namely: “China has entered the era of innovation-driven development”, “Innovation and entrepreneurship require moral support” and “The carrier, approach and method of moral cultivation”.
China has entered an era of innovation-driven development
First of all, Secretary Wang elaborated on how to interpret "China has entered an era of innovation-driven development". Innovation-driven development is a national strategy first proposed by the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. Over the past thirty years, China's economy has achieved historic development and breakthroughs. However, these achievements mainly rely on factor-driven development, which means that the main industries are at the middle and lower end of the global value chain, and China's economy is large but not strong. Secretary Wang pointed out that in today's era of economic globalization, the traditional development method is no longer sustainable, and only through innovation and transformation can we continue to drive economic development. Innovation drive has become the destiny and future of the country. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that innovation is the soul of a nation’s progress, an inexhaustible driving force for a country’s prosperity, and the deepest national endowment of the Chinese nation. Secretary Wang emphasized, “In today’s Internet era, the threshold for innovation is constantly lowering, and it is entirely possible for college students to become the main body of innovation and entrepreneurship.” Innovation and entrepreneurship are closely related to the study, life and work of graduate students。

Secretary Wang Ling’s report
Innovation and entrepreneurship require moral support
“What is talent?” Secretary Wang Ling pointed out: “People who have specialized knowledge or skills that can create value for society or mankind and make contributions are talents, which are high-level human resources.” The core of innovation-driven is talent-driven, and innovative and entrepreneurial talents require technical support. Technology is a double-edged sword, it can benefit mankind or it can destroy mankind. But its effect does not depend on the technology itself, but on human values. Therefore, morality is more important to contemporary college students than technology. So what is morality? "Morality is the sum of behavioral norms that regulate the relationship between people." Secretary Wang Ling took the three major functions of traditional Chinese education, the three pillars of ancient Greek classical education, and the laws of ancient Greek education as examples to explain the importance of graduate student moral education and clarify the urgency of transforming education methods in colleges and universities. At the same time, graduate students themselves must also strengthen self-management and improve moral cultivation from all aspects.

The carrier, approach and method of moral cultivation
Secretary Wang Ling explained to the new graduate students the three consciousnesses under the connotation of morality as well as the carrier, approach and method of moral cultivation. Morality has three important consciousnesses, responsibility, integrity and willpower. Responsibility ranks first in moral cultivation and is innate to human beings; integrity is the basis and premise of all moral elements; will is the psychological process in which people consciously determine the purpose of moral behavior, actively regulate their own activities, and overcome internal and external difficulties to achieve set goals. "What channels and methods do we use to improve moral cultivation?" Secretary Wang Ling pointed out, "Morality is not learned or tested, but a kind of self-control and self-control that comes from the heart. By managing oneself, reducing objective material desires, financial desires, human desires, fame desires, and possessive desires, and achieving inner freedom and balance, one can improve the moral level." Therefore, the carrier of moral cultivation is ourselves, which is reflected in every moment of life, and we need to improve it subtly in our daily lives.

Student questions
During the Q&A session,StudentRespond actively and ask questions enthusiastically. The graduate students raised questions on aspects such as "currently graduates generally tend to have decent, high-paying jobs, and few students choose to start their own businesses", "how our graduate students can contribute ideas and suggestions in the construction and development of the 'Belt and Road'", and "the pros and cons of choosing to go abroad for exchange at the postgraduate stage", and Secretary Wang Ling answered them one by one. When answering the question "current graduate students pursue stability and lack the courage to start their own businesses", Secretary Wang Ling emphasized that the core of innovation and entrepreneurship reform is education reform. We propose innovation and entrepreneurship to cultivate students' innovative thinking, innovative literacy and innovation ability. College education must make reforms in talent standards, assessment standards, and curriculum learning systems to cultivate innovative talents suitable for contemporary economic development.
