“A heart of ice is a jade kettle”, this is the inner reflection of the volunteer team of the “Ice Cube” Wheelchair Curling World Championships.

Wang Yijia from the w88 casino is a volunteer service expert with a total volunteer service timeOver 450 hours. Because of his rich experience in volunteer service, Wang Yijia served as the assistant volunteer team leader for ice athletes at the Wheelchair Curling World Championships. When talking about this volunteer service, Wang Yijia feels tired, very tired, but also very happy.

The ice player assistant is responsible for wiping each curling stone and handing it to the players on the ice track, and assisting the referee at the end of the court to recover each invalid stone. Because curling competitions have extremely high requirements for the cleanliness of the ice surface, a tiny particle of dust or a hair will affect the direction of the curling stone. Therefore, ice athlete assistants need to take shifts to help athletes wipe their wheelchairs before entering the venue to ensure that there are no impurities on the wheels, so as to ensure that every curling stone thrown by the athletes can reflect the true level of the athletes and ensure the fairness of the competition.

Each curling stone weighs nearly20 kg, a total of 16 curling stones in a game, which will be thrown back and forth in 8 games. This means that after a game, 128 curling stones must be wiped and arranged according to the needs of each team. Only Wang Yijia and his "little friends" know the hardships best: "Our thin down jackets were thoroughly wet from the inside out, and the masks were even filled with sweat from our faces. We often joke with each other that after three or four hours of each game, we take off our gloves and it’s like we’ve put on a layer of hand mask. ”

Assistant on the ice is a challenge from physical strength to knowledge for every volunteer. In addition to the physical hard work, ice assistants also need to memorize all the rules of curling competitions, be proficient in using English professional terminology to communicate with referees, and ensure that every stone they send and receive on the ice is compliant and valid.

Wheelchair Curling World ChampionshipsSince the start of the 23rd, Wang Yijia has experienced a total of 6 games. He is gratified by the rewards behind the hardships. "Although I am very tired every day and my legs are often so sore that it is difficult to bend, my heart is getting warmer and warmer. This is both a training and a full harvest." Wang Yijia happily accepted the challenge of volunteer service. "In the past every day, we have felt the warmth of the staff, athletes, and students from our brother schools all the time."

After the game ended at nearly 10 o'clock on the evening of the 25th, the Russian curling team gave him and another assistant Russian candies. The Swedish players would say "perfect, thank you" every time the assistant set the pots. The Chinese team was one of the few participating teams that did not need their help to push the wheelchair after the 11 o'clock evening training. Every time they would say to them: "Children, take a rest!" We do it ourselves. "All this made Wang Yijia and his friends feel the warmth and enthusiasm like fire even though they were in the "Ice Cube".

After this experience, Wang Yijia is already looking forward to volunteering again at the Winter Olympics.“As a college student and a young volunteer, I feel extremely proud to be able to participate in volunteer service for the Winter Olympics in the capital of the motherland, combining the spirit of volunteerism and the Olympic spirit. I will definitely go all out and welcome the arrival of 2022 with the best spirit. "Wang Yijia is full of passion and expectation to witness and serve the Winter Olympics with a group of like-minded young partners.
