The theme of this interpretation simulation conference is "Inheritance and Innovation: Cultural Communication and Interaction under the Digital Wave". Students from China and the UK jointly built a high-level language learning and application experience platform through simultaneous interpretation and consecutive interpretation in the cloud. Professor Song Jiwen, the foreign director of the Business Confucius Institute at the University of Leeds, and Professor Hu Rong, the Chinese director of the Business Confucius Institute at the University of Leeds, and more than 30 teachers and students from the two universities participated in the exchange.

Based on his experience as a senior international conference interpreter, Dean Hu Rong introduced the important position of Chinese in achieving multilingual communication and the important role of language services in the multilingual culture of international organizations such as the United Nations. This event simulates the format of a United Nations multilingual international conference, with two interpretation simulation sessions: simultaneous interpretation and consecutive interpretation. Chinese students from the Department of East Asia at the University of Leeds, students from the Conference Interpretation and Translation Studies major at the University of Leeds, and students from the International Conference Interpretation major at the w88 casino simulated conference speakers to deliver speeches and completed simulated interpretation tasks at the conference. The meeting was held in both Chinese and English, and focused on five themes with great cultural connotations of the times: "When traditional culture meets modern expressions", "British tea, Douyin and cultural communication", "The role of short video platforms in promoting traditional crafts", "The eternal charm of Shakespeare's plays" and "Conservation and innovation of classical literature". Students from the two schools completed simultaneous interpretation and consecutive interpretation from English to Chinese and Chinese to English respectively.

Dean Song Jiwen spoke highly of the event in her concluding speech. She said: "Today's event was not only a successful language practice, but also a wonderful cultural dialogue. The professionalism and cross-cultural understanding demonstrated by the students were impressive. The Business Confucius Institute at the University of Leeds will continue to build more such practice platforms to promote exchanges between Chinese and British youth and cultivate more language talents with global vision and professional skills."
