On the day of the event, Tong Yujing and Zhao Jingjing, Chinese teachers of the Confucius Institute for Business at the University of Leeds in the UK, provided two cultural experience activities, Tai Chi and tea art, for the guests, allowing more than 30 British Library staff who participated in the event to experience the wonderful charm of Chinese culture from multiple angles and up close.


In the Tai Chi experience activity, Zhao Jingjing first explained the origin of Tai Chi and the cultural connotation of Tai Chi to the guests. Tong Yujing then demonstrated the twenty-four postures of Yang Style Tai Chi. After a simple warm-up, Tong Yujing led the guests to practice the decomposition of each move. Accompanied by the melodious guzheng music "High Mountains and Flowing Waters", everyone practiced Tai Chi seriously and felt the implicit, restrained, continuous, gentle, slow and flowing style of Tai Chi. Finally, the guests completed a complete set of twenty-four Yang Style Tai Chi under her leadership.

During the tea art event, the guests sat in a circle. Zhao Jingjing first introduced the history, types and culture of Chinese tea to the guests, and discussed and compared the similarities and differences between the Chinese and British tea cultures with the guests. Everyone enthusiastically shared their opinions and the atmosphere was harmonious and warm. Afterwards, Tong Yujing introduced various tea sets to the guests, and then showed how to brew oolong tea. Everyone praised the exquisite tea art performance and the fragrance of oolong tea. In the final question and answer session, Zhao Jingjing showed the guests how to brew jasmine tea. Everyone had a discussion on Tai Chi culture and tea culture while tasting the tea. The event ended successfully in a lively and warm atmosphere.
