Students from UIBE Victoria Business Confucius Institute in Australia appeared at the 18th “Chinese Bridge”

A total of ten college students from six universities in the Melbourne area participated in the competition. Among them, two contestants, Angus Simmie and Maxim Zervos from UIBE Victoria University Business Confucius Institute (hereinafter referred to as VBCI), represented Victoria University in the competition.

The Dragon Boating Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Melbourne attended the competition and delivered a welcome speech. Liu Guoqiang, President of the Australian Chinese Teachers Association, served as the chief judge. Zeng Jianhua, Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General in MelbourneUIBE Colin, Foreign Director of the Business Confucius Institute at the University of Victoria, Australia Professor Clark, the Chinese director, Associate Professor Wang Bei, other Chinese and foreign leaders and teachers of the Confucius Institute, experts and scholars in Chinese language teaching in universities, primary and secondary schools in Victoria, and relatives and friends of the contestants400Many people attended this competition.

The Chinese Bridge competition is divided into two parts. The first part isChinese speech on the theme of "We are one family", the second part is a talent show. Two players from the University of VictoriaAngusSimmie andMaximZervos showed his style and won the excellence award in this competition.

In the keynote speech session,Angus Simmie quoted the saying "We are all brothers in the world" to closely follow the theme of "One World, One Family", which made the judges and teachers full of praise; during the talent show,MaximZervos used the guitar to perform his own adaptation of the classic Chinese song "The Moon Represents My Heart". He amazed all the judges and the audience as soon as he opened his mouth. This classic old song, which he had newly adapted, won full applause.

It is worth mentioning thatAngus Simmie andMaximThe two contestants Zervos were independently trained by the UIBE Business Confucius Institute at Victoria University in Australia. They were last year11monthThe group members of the first cultural experience camp for college students in China organized by VBCI signed up to participate in the short-term language course "Chinese Workshop" opened by VBCI in March this year after finishing the cultural experience camp in China. They have only been learning Chinese for 2 months. Their Chinese speeches and talents were guided by teacher Wang Long from the Business Confucius Institute at the University of Victoria.

After the game,Angus Simmie andMaximZervos expressed his sincere gratitude to the University of Victoria Business Confucius Institute for its training.MaximZervos specifically stated that he was very happy to join the VBCI family, and that VBCI has enriched his campus life and given him many valuable opportunities.

Consul General Long Zhou of the Chinese Consulate General in Melbourne said in his speech,The "Chinese Bridge" competition not only provides a good competitive stage for the contestants, but also builds a communication platform for Chinese and Australian young students to learn from each other.
