Dr. Wu Xiaoyan, head of the Education Section of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Mexico, Liang Xianzhong, all Chinese and foreign directors of the five Confucius Institutes in Mexico, and Liang Xianzhong, a Chinese language teacher volunteer management teacher, attended the meeting.
The 2019 annual meeting mainly focused on the progress of the work of the Confucius Institutes in Mexico over the past year, the training of Chinese teacher volunteers at the Confucius Institute, whether new teachers need to arrange on-the-job training, incorporating teaching platforms and digital media into Mandarin learning, the 2020 budget and the handover situation with Hanban, discussions on the sustainable development strategy of the Confucius Institute, and the Tennessee Traditional Music Ensemble project plan.
Looking back since the last annual meeting of Confucius Institutes in Mexico, the five Confucius Institutes in Mexico have made progress in many aspects such as Chinese teaching, cultural activity organization and social contact. All five Confucius Institutes have re-signed agreements with Chinese Test International, completely solving the Mexican Chinese test proposed at the last annual meetingThe problem of “cost depression”; the quality of Chinese teaching in Confucius Institutes across Mexico has been steadily improved, and the teaching software and hardware conditions have been further improved. The deans also analyzed, discussed and studied new issues and solutions such as mutual recognition of degrees between China and Mexico and mutual recognition of credits between universities in the two countries.
Dr. Wu Xiaoyan, head of the Education Section of the Embassy, delivered a speech at the beginning of the meeting. She listened to the speeches of the directors and interjected from time to time according to their speeches. She affirmed and praised the work of the Confucius Institute in Mexico over the past year and the hard work of the Chinese and foreign directors; the participating directors prepared carefully before the meeting, and spoke freely at the meeting, fully communicated and learned from each other.
