On March 14, Chinese Ambassador to Mexico Zhang Run met with Chinese and foreign directors who were attending the 2023 Joint Conference of the Confucius Institutes in Mexico in Mexico City. Wang Huijun, Minister Counselor of the Embassy, and Wu Xiaoyan, Education Commissioner of the Embassy, attended to hear the work of Confucius Institutes across Mexico. Sara, the Mexican Director of the Confucius Institute at the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, and Meng Dawei, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon attended the meeting. Dean Sara reported on the teaching, Chinese language examinations and cultural activities held by the Confucius Institute at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo Leon in Mexico in recent years, as well as the future development plans of the Confucius Institute.

Ambassador Zhang spoke highly of the achievements of the Confucius Institutes across Mexico. Through a variety of teaching and cultural exchange activities, it has cultivated a large number of talents with both professional qualities and Chinese knowledge, and has made positive contributions to enhancing the friendship between the two peoples and promoting the development of China-Mexico relations. Ambassador Zhang hopes that the Confucius Institute can continue to strengthen the Chinese teaching model and explore Chinese+ teaching model, using language to serve communication and development, promote the integration of Chinese into the Mexican education system, enhance cultural exchanges between China and Mexico, and China and Latin America, and make new contributions to the development of China-Mexico and China-Latin America relations.

After the meeting, the participants had a warm and friendly exchange. The Chinese and foreign directors of the Confucius Institute presented souvenirs to the ambassador and the ambassador’s wife respectively, and invited the ambassador to visit the Confucius Institute in Nuevo Leon.
