The Confucius Institute at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo Leon in Mexico held a series of celebrations for the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 20th anniversary of the Confucius Institute

On September 28, the Confucius Institute at the Autonomous University of Nuevo León held celebrations for the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the 20th anniversary of the Confucius Institute, and the 2024 global "Confucius Institute Day", providing local people with a new perspective on China and demonstrating the win-win potential of China and Mexico in the fields of culture, education, and business. More than 400 people from all walks of life participated in this event. Enterprises such as CRRC Nanjing Puzhen, OPPO Mobile Phone, BYD Automobile, Great Wall Motors, GAC Motors, Jikrypton Automobile, GVL Shipping, HOYMILES Power Electronics, Lingong Intelligent Information Technology (LGIM) were invited to attend. The event was hosted by Wang Long, a government-sponsored Chinese teacher.

The foreign director, Professor Sara, delivered a welcome speech. She said that the Confucius Institute in Nuevo Leon has made remarkable achievements in Chinese teaching and cultural exchanges in the past 18 years with the joint efforts of both Chinese and foreign parties and all Chinese teachers, which has greatly enhanced the local people’s love for Chinese and Chinese culture. Alfredo, the head of the Chinese brand car dealer, and Mr. Wang Jun, the general manager of CRRC Puzhen Mexico Branch, delivered speeches respectively as business representatives. Everyone expressed that they would use the Confucius Institute as a link to strengthen close cooperation with local partners and build a bridge for economic and cultural interaction between the two countries; business representatives were awarded certificates of participation in Confucius Institute activities.

Chen Yuanxin, a government-sponsored teacher from the Confucius Institute, performed Tai Chi for the audience and led the students to perform the Eight-Dance Brocade, allowing the audience to appreciate the core of harmony and balance in traditional Chinese philosophy; Dennis, an award-winning student of the "Chinese Bridge" under the guidance of Wu Zhiwei, a government-sponsored teacher, sang "How Much I Like You" solo, winning the current award. There were bursts of applause; Ana, a student under the guidance of public teacher Jiang Shuqing, played and sang "Falling in Love with You is Like Falling in Love with Loneliness" with her classmates, demonstrating their active enthusiasm in language and cultural learning; student Jonathan shared his profound interpretation of the "Tao Te Ching", emphasizing its modern inspiration, triggering a heated discussion among the audience.

At the event, OPPO mobile phone displays and on-site fun games attracted many people and students to participate; more than ten Chinese-made real vehicles, such as BYD hybrid pickup truck, GAC GN8 MPV, and Great Wall ORA small pure electric vehicle, were displayed, attracting participants to test drive, consult and understand, and feel the sense of technology, safety, and comfort made in China. Government-sponsored teachers Gao Dianjun and Wu Zhiwei were on site to guide students in their learning and understanding, making education and learning fun. CRRC Nanjing Puzhen also introduced the progress and development plans of projects in Mexico to students and local people at the booth. Students of various languages ​​were very interested and actively inquired about internship and employment opportunities in Chinese-funded enterprises.

Secretary-General Jia of the Overseas Chinese Federation of Nuevo Leon said that the Confucius Institute in Nuevo Leon is an important bridge for educational and cultural exchanges between China and Mexico in Nuevo Leon. The successful holding of the event has enhanced mutual understanding between Chinese-funded enterprises, overseas Chinese, and local people, and enhanced local people’s understanding of Chinese brands. He believes that the Confucius Institute in Nuevo Leon will continue to contribute to enhancing cultural exchanges and economic cooperation between China and Mexico in the future, allowing Chinese culture to shine more brilliantly in this hot land of Mexico.
