During the period, the China International Chinese Education Foundation held the “Light of the Confucius Institute—Special Appreciation Event for the 20th Anniversary of the Confucius Institute” and issued plaques of appreciation to 41 foreign dignitaries, sinologists, principals, and directors of the Confucius Institute from 34 countries to thank them for their outstanding contributions to the construction and development of the Confucius Institute. Wu Yan, Vice Minister of Education, presented the awards to the award-winning guests.
Professor Taras Ivchenko, Director of the Confucius Institute at the Russian State University for the Humanities, and Professor Colin James Clark, Director of the Confucius Institute for Business at Victoria University in Australia, were awarded the “Light of the Confucius Institute” honorary award for their outstanding contributions.
Professor Yi Fucheng has served as the director of the Confucius Institute at the Russian State University for the Humanities since 2007. He is a famous Russian sinologist and the chairman of the Russian Chinese Teachers Association. The research fields mainly include Chinese grammar, semantics, ancient Chinese, translation studies, Chinese literature, etc. At the same time, as a high-level Russian-Chinese bilingual translator, he has repeatedly undertaken simultaneous interpretation work for important events such as meetings between Chinese and Russian senior leaders and international forums.
In 2010, it won the "Chinese Language and Culture Contribution Award" issued by the then Premier of the State Council Wen Jiabao. The Confucius Institute was awarded the title of "Advanced Confucius Institute" in 2013, the "Confucius Institute Director's Memorial Medal" in 2022, and the "Friendship Envoy Award" of the first Orchid Award in 2023.

Professor Colin has served as the Director of the Business Confucius Institute at Victoria University in Australia since 2015.
